@PetChickenz Honestly they'd be really tough anyway, as they get very muscular free-roaming. We eat our roosters, but it's much better made into a soup than just having the meat itself.

We try to only get hens for eggs, but the companies always send a handful of roosters. We end up having to kill them. The first time we didn't, and by the first winter they'd blinded and practically killed each other.

Apparently he did not die because the axe had missed his carotid artery and it clotted, preventing him from bleeding to death. Most of his brainstem was intact and he was able to move around and react as it houses most of the reflex controls, and basic functions (such as breathing). He really was an amazing creature.
