  • The guy doing the voice-over is Barney Phillips and was a very popular character actor. You might remember him as the diner owner the The Twilight Zone episode 'Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up'. Also as Chief Franks in The Sand Pebbles.

  • @powerpup97 Yup! I'm pretty sure it was!

  • way before Digum

  • "Senor Queeks Draw, these Sugar Smacks are good, I thin'!" "Hold on, Baba Looey! I'll do the thinnin' around here, and DON'T YEW FOR-GIT IT!!!" (Sorry folks, just an old man recalling one of his all-time favorite cartoon lines.)

  • @elc1960 Thanks, man! I used to love this cartoon. This was waaaaaayyy before everything got so PC. Could they pull off a cartoon like this today? I think La Raza would be all over that!

  • I'd love to see the spot where Indians mistake Quick Draw's calliope steam as smoke signals.

  • Kelloggs thought Quick Draw McGraw was Yellow itstead of White.

  • What about Pink Panther Flakes or Crispy Critters?

  • "...with a real sweet sugar frosting". Splenda can kiss my @ss

  • Even though these shows came out way before my time, I dig them! I'm surprised I grew up watchin some of these.

  • they don't make ads like that anymore either

  • @looneytoon76 I can't agree with you more!!! I love Quick Draw McGraw!!! They don't make cartoons like they used to no more!!!

  • I can't believe these commercials are now from the good ol' days! I remember when this commercial came out, and the good ol' days was the 1920's. How time flies!

  • SING IT.

  • Baba Booey!

  • Thought that was a Howard Stern thing at first.

  • @66hourenergy

BOFF!!! My favorite all-time cartoon character is Baba Booey.

    IBM is my favorite Mac-Hine

Reces is ma favorite actress, BOFF!!

  • The cereals back then all had "sugar" in the name. Sugar Smacks, Sugar Pops, Sugar Frosted Flakes. It's a wonder our teeth didn't fall out.

  • Don't forget Sugar Jets and Super Sugar Crisp!! I ate them all, and I still have MOST of my teeth!! :+)

  • "They don't write songs like that anymore." how true! =[

  • what was that young boy doing talking to that older male?????you tell me

  • HURR HURR

  • Probably his dad.

  • That was cute!

  • 'Ay, Queestraw!! I remember coming home from watching "Old Yeller" at one night at my school & getting home just in time to watch Quickdraw.

  • bababababababababooey

  • bababooey

  • thats where howard sterns baba booey came from gary said baba boey instead of baba loey

  • Because Kellogg's sponsored "QUICK DRAW McGRAW" in syndication from 1959 through '66 [and Saturday mornings on CBS from '63-'66], he often appeared in "integrated" commericals for the sponsor, even if Hanna-Barbera DIDN'T animate them. This is a rare example of a first season (1959-'60) ad without any animation, and Barney Phillips as the lead voice-over...

  • Thanks FTS. I couldn't place the voice-over guy.

Any guesses who did the drawing? Maybe Ken Muse?

  • That's Barney Phillips. he was the voice of Mr. Kool Aid in the late 50's, early 60's. remember the Twilight Zone episode where all the people get off the bus and there's one person in the cafe that doesn't belong. barney's the guy behind the counter with the third eye on his forehead.

  • Thank you for posting this lil blast from my childhood! Quick Draw and Baba were my fave HB cartoon at this time and I remember this TV ad well.
