@LadiiBlu33 - actually the ideal plan is for a beginner to study ear training along with their other musical practice. It's a skill that doesn't usually get included in a keyboard player's life until they hit college or advanced studies. Train your ears to hear accurately while you're training your brain to understand music while your'e training your hands to play it = a great musician. :)
I have been looking at this program for about week and have fell in love with it! So much so that I ordered it today. I have played piano for 16 years but have always had to have music. As a piano player for my church this will be invaluable for me, especially the ear training, something I have always wanted to learn. Also looking forward to the other lessons - learning to play off of chords and being able to do fill ins! Thank you so much for such an affordable program - Awesome! Thank you!
I plan on buying this system very shortly!! I love this..this is the BEST I've seen so far, as far as piano lessons..you play how I want too hahaha Preciate this and God bless you.
@hollaatme26 - Thanks for your comments. I'm really glad this is helpful to you. My sis Mary and I used to play a version of this - sitting at the old upright piano back in the day. I'd close my eyes, she'd pick out a note, and I'd have to find it by remembering the last note. Kind of crazy, but it really worked well for ear training and eventually it was the inspiration for putting this program together. All the best - David Sprunger
here comes the bride... *laughing while saying:* big fat and wide! lol but im downloading this and im gonna be better tahn my friend who doesnt want me to play keyboard!

I am a beginner to intermediate piano player that wants to get better. I really do want to develop my ear. I will try the free version first and then I will get the full version.
This looks very interesting and worth trying. I've been playing piano all my life - but cannot just blend with any music in live session. I look forward to learning more of this.
Thanks alot for this video. I have recently been teaching myself alot of piano the past 6 months by ear, but i play with my own style where i take chords, and play alot of really crazy note patterns between them. I use my current rhythym from playing the drums, and my basic music theory from guitar and apply it to my playing and somehow im able to make people think ive been playing for years lol. but yes, as i post this, the ear training file is downloading.
this is exactly what I was looking for! learning to play an instrument and developing my ear at the same time will help my playing AND singing! And the program is more affordable than I thought. As soon as I have it in the budget I'm going to download this program!

I have a question about the program. Upon purchasing and downloading, does it instantly install on it's own? One of my friends said some programs do (I think to prevent piracy). I'm asking because I have 2 separate CPU's, one for online and one in my room (not online) that is specifically for my music stuff. Would I be able to DL onto my online CPU, then put it on a thumb drive and install on my room CPU? Or would it auto-install?
@mannyac82 - The program does need to install to run. However, it goes through two screens that ask your permission to do so. The first screen is an informational screen, and the second screen asks where you would like the progam to install. Best wishes!
yo, this looks really good!! I'ma try this out later, from classic music training I got bored and annoyed that I could only play after hours of practice of a piece, and then someone would say, oh can you solo in this concert and naturally I would freak out..............lets see if your program really works, is it free????/ Ima find out anyway, but you should say that in the vid if it is. If not, then well,.....thats your fault
thank you for this i have not yet, download the programme, but looking at it from what u have show me really think i would benefit me. thanks again and may GOD Bless You!!!
I'm not sure if this is a daft n00b idea, but would it not help (for the white keys at least) to denote the correspnding letter, instead of "1" and "2" respectively? I understand why this would be difficult for the black keys, but mixing numbers and letters tends to confuse me a bit (no good at algebra, despite being a decent mathematician), and I think it would help me reinforce memorization of the A-G layout. Just a thought.
Hi random.. that may be a good idea - I'm in the process of doing an update, I'll roll that around in my brain and see. Thanks for taking the time to write. Hope you have a great time learning the keys! Best - David Sprunger

This looks like some amazing software. It would be awesome to train my ears as a sophmore in high school, then going into AP music theory with a trained ear senior year. 5/5 stars.
This looks cool! But sometimes slow down and talk less. ADHD people get confused as heck when they hear blah blah blah - music and language are processed by the same channels - dont clog em up.

Thanks David, I actually went to the site after I posted the comment and went through all of your demo's. I can't wait to purchase the program I'm extremely excited especially about the Rythmic Patterns.
This is probably the best program I've seen so far for playing music by ear. I really need to learn how because I was taught with sheet music so it's a bit difficult for me to be able to tell where notes are supposed to be. The tutorial looks fairly simple and easy to learn.
Now, i don't really know what to do.. i've been using the program for about 2 weeks and i'm not really sure if i should stay to level 1 or continue.. I feel pretty sure about level 1 now, even tho it HAPPENS i accidently press the wrong key, but not too often. So, should i stay until im completely safe or maybe begin playing level 2?
That's a great question - I admire the fact that you want to go through level 1 at 100%, but I'd dive into the next couple levels and start pushing yourself a bit. Since you're practicing so intensely, I'd love to hear how you're doing in the future. Best wishes - David Sprunger
I just began using this program, and i like it ;D i think it would work GREAT if you made it for Iphone or PSP or anything portable, much easier to take with you, and you can practice anywhere :D
Great software to really nature melody mapping in your brain so that these sounds become you part of your daily life. And once this happens, excellency shall increase.
The free version is not time-limited. It will take you through the first grouping of ear training levels to get started. The full version goes through quite a few more in-depth levels (much bigger intervals + harmonic training). Best - DSprunger
This is a helpful program teaching a skill that is difficult to master. Sight reading is another skill that I feel noone has managed to write a fully satisfactory lesson program for. Maybe try a sight-reading lesson/program as you seem to have done such a good job with ear traing.
i have a question, like when you say like major 2nd or major 3rd how do you know which side to move? like you move right or you move left? how do you know?
i have a question, like when you say like major 2nd or major 3rd how do you know which side to move? like you move right or you move left? how do you know?
Hi Caloshehe - sorry it took me so long to see your comment. You can either move up or down when referring to intervals. There's two ways to look at it - you can analyze the Maj. 2nd (or whatever) as it relates to the key you are in, or simply remember the distances. For instance, a Maj. 2nd (either direction) is 2 half steps away. A minor 3rd is is 3 half steps away... etc.
i love the sound of piano and i hear so many different songs i want to hear but cant play and i want to play the beauty sounds of my music not by lookin at a sheet thnk for upload i love ma music gona keeep trying

Nice simple way of explaining intervals.
Simple songs also is a good way..........Somewhere Over the Rainbow = Octave.
Maria = b5.
I managed to learn/retain perfect pitch, with intervals, and familiar sounds...refridgerators (G), phone rings, and message alerts....etc..

hi,
I am a musician, playing about 30 years and wanted to get to be a great sight singer.
I sent for a fixed do system, that basically gave me the names of the solfege syllables in all the keys and modes.
this might be a good system for me to couple with that book.
Keep up the good work.

I downloaded the free version! Hope it helps me a little.

how long is the free version?
pianoman129 2 years ago
The free version is not time-limited. It will take you through the first grouping of ear training levels to get started. The full version goes through quite a few more in-depth levels (much bigger intervals + harmonic training). Best - DSprunger

This is a helpful program teaching a skill that is difficult to master. Sight reading is another skill that I feel noone has managed to write a fully satisfactory lesson program for. Maybe try a sight-reading lesson/program as you seem to have done such a good job with ear traing.

that's an interesting idea. I just need another clone to get it done! ha Thanks - DSprunger

A minor 3rd is is 3 half steps away... etc.
