why not read Isaiah 53 in context? if you read Isaiah 40-53, you'll read more or less one continuous song, in which a "servant" is referred to 18 times. in 7 of those places, it says EXPLICITLY that the servant is "Israel" or "Jacob".

the whole passage is about God's relationship with Israel, his judgment on them, his promise to bring them out of captivity in Babylon, and his goal of blessing all nations through Israel.

read in that context, Isaiah 53 makes plenty of sense.

No, the Pharao had his heart hardened BY God. You say the same applies to the jews: they have been cursed with spiritual blindness. What skeptics have is just lack of evidence. Isaiah 53 was considered messianic in Judaism until after Jesus they changed it - out of guilt

They rejected him accusing him of being demon possessed - the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit in context. He responded by pronouncing that spiritual blindness would fall upon them -until the fullness of the gentiles comes in.

Devotion to the LORD unto eternal life is pleasing to God. It's not selfish to live for God in the hope of eternal life, especially since living for God requires being unselfish. Besides, we primarily worship Him and seek Him because He is worthy out of love for Him, not merely for benefit or reward.
