  • In bar 5, whats that sign for the dotted quarter note? I've heard it a lot, but I don't know what it means.

  • I don't even recommend this one for high school kids. For you, learn Robert getchell first and second books for trumpet. Yes. Trumpet.

  • @horn1palmer ok, thanks for the adive

  • @horn1palmer ummm, should I just play un-transposed?

  • Mr. Palmer, do you think that this would be good practice for a rather talented 7th grader (after I finish getting to all state in GA, wear I live) but I don't have any etude books and the music I have is all too easy, please respond (btw your tone is amazing)

  • @udienowisay You can go to state when your in 7th and 8th?

  • @OldChickens (In GA)

  • Wow this is amazing. I'm in 8th grade and made first chair all region honors band, hoping to make all state next year and I'm playing this for my high school band audition music and I can play all of it except for the first 2 measures. :)

  • i love all the etudes i just like the low C's on the third etude it's just not working out for me lol but at least i made freshman all-region

  • so good............ just plain amazing

  • are you the guy we get the recordings of to practice this with? x) i hate the 3rd etude... it... doesnt even sound musical. but i bet you make it sound good lmao.

  • Listen again. It's right. I did this with a click track.

  • Why did you play a quarter note instead of the half note in the first measure?

  • @SalArmyTX they didnt. its the same as a dotted quarter note because a quarter note and a eighth note are tied together. so instead of 1 beat like u think it shud b, and 2 beats like u think he did, he only did 1 1/2 beats- a dotted quarter note.

  • is this at tempo?

  • @trmpt35

    yes

  • You know its real...you can hear the water in the horn at the very end lol

  • AWWW YEAAAHHH

  • can you explain how to do the turns please?? do you use the same notes for each one?

  • @adslayer11

They are based on a pattern.

    google this: musical turn wiki

    go to the first result

  • how do you do the trills? I know there's more than two notes involved in it.

  • @Soccerbandgeek15 They are called Mordits and I figured them out through ear. They are indeed more than two notes.

  • Ps etude 3 will be the death of me

  • Okay thanks! Thats awesome

  • How long have you playing french horn? Also on the turnovers do you take into account the same note pattern within the key signature or does the key signature not matter with the turnovers?

  • @FamilyGuyLover66

I've played for 14 years to the day.

For the turns, obey the key signature. If there is an accidental above or below the turn sign, then that accidental applies to the top it bottom note.

  • How long have you been playing french horn?

  • Do you have any suggestions on ways of practicing this? LOL

  • @animeforyou11

start super slow and slur everything. You have months to speed it up.

  • I was in a hurry ;-)

  • Learned it already? Wow.

  • The other two are up, and they are in the related videos already.

  • Will you be uploading the other two? Would be appreciated very much, oh, and you sound terrific! :)

  • I liked it so much I listened to it twice!

  • I likes it a-lot! Very nice.

  • Thanks!

  • Good Job Ryan!
