Thanks - this was helpful to me. I edited my own black and white portrait of my mom and my daughter almost the exact same way and I was very pleased with the results. B&W "seems like" it should be easier to edit, but to me, it absolutely is not! Any tips I can pick up are a big help!
You talk a lot about what you dont do, could have done, would have done, maybe even should have done is on the program. Why dont you just do what you do. Thats just fine :-)
To be honest, I just forwarded all the way to the end to see the final result, and then decide whether I should watch the whole thing (13 min is a long time). I was a little disappointed when I saw you switched to B&W. The picture looked amazingly sharp with a beautiful color composition, why would you wanna get rid of that?
@aisakjazz thanks for your comment and feedback. I know 14 min is too long but keeping things short is not my specialty...
If I remember correctly... I went for b&w for two reasons. 1) WB. I tried to get the wb right so it would look good and natural but didn't quite get it. 2) I don't think the colors in the photo are all that interesting.
Is Lightroom only for the Mac?

Rehearse what you're going to do and say before you waste valuable YouTube space for this video.

How did you get LR to display your camera model on the info area....my LR just shows the file name and the exposure info below it.

@rpavich You can decide what info you want to show. Go to View - Loupe Info - Show Info Overlay and select what you want to show.
Hit the "I" key to change the info modes.

I think the Black and white has washed out the dimensional shadows on the cheeks and jaw line. He face had more shape before the retouch.

Press Y on your keyboard to look at a before and after splitscreen for the photo, if it is not a splitscreen then press shift + y .
