Macs are for the average IT nubs who can afford them, PCs are for the advanced IT users. An advanced user has no problem deleting all the useless stuff on a PC let alone taking care of virus protection.

Macs aren't bad, you just end up paying more for less. You can get a same spec windows PC for less. Then there's all that about viruses etc. Sure there are more (because there are more windows users), but nowadays computers are more common and it's only the less educated on comps who get caught out. So in that respect if you are new maybe a Mac is for you.
@GaxAngel a common misconception. i know my stuff about computers. been a Wndows PC user my whole life. Even ran my own custom built PC (and had nothing but issues with it). Bought an iMac a couple of months ago and never looked back. My computing experience has increased tenfold. Things are fast, simple, stable, and just an all round better experience on a Mac. The only exception being Gaming and booting my iMac into Windows fixes that issue. it can run my games as well as my PC could.
It is exactly the same hardware, so it should run games as well as a PC. When you put windows on a mac it is a PC. There is no difference. Mac restricts hardware so you can buy the right PC parts and run Mac OS on it. Its just not compatible with all PC hardware, unlike windows. If you had problems with your custom PC there could be many reasons. Depending on the problems. not all PC's are macs. But all Mac's are PC's. PC hardware is cheaper so mac uses some of it and marks it up.
@Left4Cake008 Linux is not mainstream ready. It's closer than ever but still not there. I personally LOVE Linux and all the customisation, but I also like the simplicity of a mainstream supported OS. A Mac is the closest to best of both worlds there is at the moment. I love my Mac. Tbh, the fact I can't natively install Linux is the ONLY issue I have with my Mac.
Macs are better for below average people, and they have to be simple for simple people to use them. but pc's are better without a doubt as long as you know what your doing.

and secondly Apple Logic Studio is the MOST advanced piece of music software out there, also Mac OS X has built in audio clips... far more than Windows anyway
The whole "trial" software thing does bug me and the things that my newest computer didn't come with (like a decent DVD authoring program) is why I won't soon buy something besides a VAIO again.

These days most game makers are shifting to consoles; PC gaming seems to be getting weaker all the time. Apple isn't worried about the games. They know a user will probably buy a Wii anyway. :(

@subversa666 the average person wants a video player (apple comes with Quicktime), a music player/manager/store (iTunes. 'nuff said), a photo manager/uploader (iPhoto does that for you easily). the only one which may be seen as unnecessary for a few users would be iMovie, which can easily be removed.
hmm sounds like clutter to me if a game requires itunes to run. and games dont even use itunes/quicktime to play mp3's anyway, the games have streamlined basic mp3 decoders that take very little memory, itunes takes up some 80-100mb ram, it makes no sense to have that running for games
THe reason macs dont come with loads of trial software is because no one makes anything for them. Noone uses macs so what is the point in wasting your time and resources writing software for them? There isn't a point, macs are basically a copy of free linux that you pay three times the price for if you were to buy an identical PC.
The reason why is because apple controls what software goes into the computer and they've realised that people dont want shitty trial software. That has nothing t do with therebeing less programs for mac then pc. For every ten shitty programs that allow a pc to do a certain task to come out there is one very well made easy to use yet powerful program for mac. It's a state of quality over quantity not a detractor in ay sense. Btw that had nothing to do with trial software so why link them at all?
I agree with you. When I used Leopard and I saw no trial software except Microsoft Office, I was surprised. And it does seem like you could have multiple programs on a Windows PC to do the same thing, but quicker on a Mac PC (i only said Mac PC because a Mac is a PC)

for ppl with this problem. its not windows that packs you full of trail shit, its hte computer manufacturers. so dont get some ceahp manufacturer that you never head of, or a gateway, or an hp. dell is good, sony is good, lenovo is good, and many more.. also just uninstall the crap that comes with it, only takes like 3 mins. and after that download a program called ccleaner, goto the tools, startup, and delete everything that you dont want to run at startup or anything that you dont know about.
I wonder if the marketing people at Apple have ever actually SEEN Peep Show (From which these characters are kind of lifted), they would realise that, for the most part, David Mitchell's character is kind of the one that you like the most, he's the underdog. My comment was more about the ad campaign, it makes you empathise with the nerdy "PC man" as opposed to the smug, self satisfied "Mac man" (If you watch Peep Show, its basically these exact same characters, its like Mac and PC sharing a flat), the ad is saying: "If you buy a PC, you are this man," well, I'm the sort who will route for the nerd everytime, maybe that's a British characteristic, we champion the underdog...

Actually the way trail software pops up depends on your PC maker. I have an hp and they load a few stuff on my hard drive. That's why I just install Windows and then download drivers off of hp's website.

for ppl with this problem. its not windows that packs you full of trail shit, its hte computer manufacturers. so dont get some ceahp manufacturer that you never head of, or a gateway, or an hp. dell is good, sony is good, lenovo is good, and many more.. also just uninstall the crap that comes with it, only takes like 3 mins. and after that download a program called ccleaner, goto the tools, startup, and delete everything that you dont want to run at startup or anything that you dont know about.

I wonder if the marketing people at Apple have ever actually SEEN Peep Show (From which these characters are kind of lifted), they would realise that, for the most part, David Mitchell's character is kind of the one that you like the most, he's the underdog. These ads actually make me want to buy a PC.

My comment was more about the ad campaign, it makes you empathise with the nerdy "PC man" as opposed to the smug, self satisfied "Mac man" (If you watch Peep Show, its basically these exact same characters, its like Mac and PC sharing a flat), the ad is saying: "If you buy a PC, you are this man," well, I'm the sort who will route for the nerd everytime, maybe that's a British characteristic, we champion the underdog...

i have both, my pc's are still a million times better. i love all these parody commercials but to me they never ever make a point....
so i spent $3000 for a Mac desktop when i got mine, and got 3 programs. no games. not even a cd burner program on it.
once i spent $3000 on a VAIO when they first came out and i got every program i ever needed. so....yeah screw u mac. i LIKE getting all the bang for my buck, unless some people don't.

Macs are more intended for work, networking, internet browsing, creative work (graphic design, movie making, html, etc.)
Basically everything but games. You can make a partition on your HD easily and run windows if you must though.

Actually the way trail software pops up depends on your PC maker. I have an hp and they load a few stuff on my hard drive. That's why I just install Windows and then download drivers off of hp's website.

Funny how they try to pit pc users and mac users against each other, now macs are intel based its the SAME HARDWARE os x is fantastic and secure i love it then when I want to game jump to win xp x64 drive. This is on custom built pc gaming rig not an pc with mac printed on it and a security dongle

actually, every school i've ever been to (including elementary and other school districts) has used... MACS! everyone I know with a PC (gamer or not) wants.... A MAC! I use mac for the "artsy" shit, and have... word! installed on it!
