  • Not a pro gamer, but the input lag is noticeable. I've got a 2407WFP, Great looking screen, just not for gaming.

  • seriously, comparing input lag of 2 LCD/TFT monitors is totally pointless. You need to compare against a lagfree monitor such as a CRT screen. lagfree lcd/tft don't exist, its that easy. It's their inheritance of being digital that creates the lag. Compare the dell (i own one) to a crt and its way worse than pictured in this vid..

  • for office work of movies the 2408 is pretty good, but gaming? no.. theres so much lag its unbelievable

  • I don't think the word lag means what you think it means.

  • what you mean of high input lag?

  • Im gaming on my Dell 2408 and i didnt noticed any lad. [iv got the A01].

Its a legendary monitor. [and im working on a few].

  • lag aint that bad it's liveable if ur a casual gamer

  • This comparison ignores the fact that I would sooner open my window and throw out $200 than purchase anything made from ViewSonic.

  • 期待使命5

  • I'm soooo getting this dell 24 inch monitor since it has all the hd componets in it :D great for my future ps3 :D

  • yeah im getting it too. the hdmi is very nice and with my 3 screen setup itll look sweet

  • im getting it too and hooking my imac 24inch and my xbox to it

  • oh nice i got my ps3 and my macbook. i got the dell 2208wfp instead tho. the price was a little high and i didnt have the space on my desk. also the colors were a little off...nice monitor tho

  • Hmm, I can't see the input lag the Dell is supposed to have.

  • Yes, the Dell UltraSharp panel (like all the other MVA, S-PVA, IPS, S-IPS panels) has a slower refresh rate than TN panels.

The trade-off with TN panels, however, is that they have very poor quality picture, lower contrast ratios, smaller viewing angles, and significantly less accurate color reproduction and a much narrower color gamut. They are significantly cheaper, though.

There are pros and cons to both options.

  • However the 2408WFP is kinda one of the best LCD displays there is on the market right now. Maybe not ideal for games, but if your working on graphic design, art and photos it's supreme quality. (the only screen I have seen that seems to be perfectly calibrated by its default settings.

  • If you think that it's default settings are perfect then you know nothing about proper calibration. Don't worry though, most don't, so you aren't alone.

  • There is no light source other then the monitor in my room. Have daylight and other stuff and it won't be right.

  • I'm in a finished basement myself (no windows). Regardless of ambient lighting the colors are VERY off by default. They are far too saturated.

A simply hardware calibration will fix that however and reward you with a superior image.

Once you get this monitor properly calibrated the only issue with it is the high response lag (compared to other monitors). I know that response time was seriously messing with me, but after using the thing all day I've gotten use to it. It's not so bad.

  • yea sure if I get one of those calibration things I will use it. When I say default colors i mean the custom RGB 100% 100% 100%, but now that you talked about super finesse in image adjustment I took a very long look at all the colors and saw that blue should be turned down to about 99,5% to 99%, which made the white seem more perfectly white (almost microscopically small detail). High response lag isn't important for me, I don't play games, but digital art, photo, 3d design & animation etc.

  • Even on custom rgb (what I'm currently using) the screens still have a saturation issue that's shared across all of them. Now each monitor itself will calibrate a bit differently though. For instance I find I need to drop the red a bit and the green the most, while keeping the blue higher than the red.

I can't find something I like though, which is why I went and got the calibrator (can't wait 4 it). Plus, I personally am use to a FP241w, which doesn't have as wide a color gamut as the 2408wfp.

  • the monitor doesn't have speakers on it.

  • I believe that there is an audio out beside the component inputs

  • There's a problem with the sound in this video.

  • pls compare dell with some other 24 inch monitor...a 20 inch monitor will always be faster...response time increases with the screen size...not a dell supporter but pls be fair when comparing...

  • it was really hard for me to notice that split of lag until i paused at the point when he turned really fast (after 50+ times pausing the vid)... i dont think it's that big of an issue ^^ love the Dell.

  • Looks good to me. =)

Can't see any big differences. :)

Or is it? Of course better picture for Dell. :Ø

  • what pannel is it used? s-pva or s-ips? color staturation 110% looks cool. please let me know it`s pannel name.

  • it's a s-pva

  • thanks fufl

  • I can't see any differences between both of them...I'm not a real gamer so it really doesn't worry me. :)

  • a split second behind. more concerned about the price.

  • is the input lag noticable enought to have a detriment for gaming?

  • Pause the video at random points and you will see that the Dell is slightly behind the ViewSonic

  • you sure? it looks pretty close to me. the dell is bigger so it might look more behind because more will show on the screen. anyways hows the color on the dell. i was thinking about getting the 2408. im gonna have vista and leopard connected on 2 different ports?

  • Would you say the dell is good ? I'm thinking of buying one.
