i am a vegetarian, but i am not against eating meat. i am however against how these poor animals are being treated. i think it would be better to eat meat if the animals were treated decently.
Unfortunately, there's really no end to this kind of behavior. People don't work at pig farms because they care for or love animals. And it definitely doesn't help seeing pigs get prodded everyday, even if you do have a humane streak. And do you really think the average American would be willing to give up the ham, egg and cheese croissant to stop this kind of abuse? Of course not.

I think its much more effective to take footage like this to authorities and get such individuals prosecuted for these crimes and get better monitoring and regulation on farms than to try and convince people to stop using animal products all togther. You can look into going vegan of course! :) There are plenty of websites that guide you on becoming veg, vegan or reducing your consumption of meat. There are so many wonderful vegan alternatives to milk, cheese, eggs, meat ("gardein" is one of the best) and yes even beef jerky, if you want to spice up vegan dishes. We don't have to contribute to this :)

I spend far less money on groceries now as a vegan (think beans, rice, oats, fresh produce all in bulk) than I ever did buying meat and dairy products. I try to buy locally grown produce but just as with animal food, this is not always possible.

Just don't buy that cheap meat from those horror farms all over the world. There are many good organic farms which produce meet in a good and healthy way, for the humans and for the animals. Support those! The veg's mustn't forget, that all those gigantic farms for corn etc. destroy the environment too - poisoning rivers and lakes, threatening nature with geneticly manipulated seeds. So just becoming a veg isn't the solution. You rather should think over the whole way of producing food.
90% of the corn produced by these giant farms that is destroying our environment goes to feed factory farmed animals and goes towards other by products, not to feed the rest of the world. I can't believe people who respond by saying they need better guidelines but they won't stop eating meat, I couldn't think of any fence-walking cop out to use myself. Just don't buy that cheap meat from those horror farms all over the world. There are many good organic farms which produce meet in a good and healthy way, for the humans and for the animals. Support those! The veg's mustn't forget, that all those gigantic farms for corn etc. destroy the environment too - poisoning rivers and lakes, threatening nature with geneticly manipulated seeds. So just becoming a veg isn't the solution. You rather should think over the whole way of producing food.

Pick up a copy of "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer. He did research about all of this stuff, it's really interesting actually, and it'll change your opinion on this cruel cruel industry.

This is horrible. I havn't touched meat since reading Foer's book. This video only reinforces why eating meat is wrong. I can't believe people who respond by saying they need better guidelines but they won't stop eating meat, I couldn't think of any fence-walking cop out to use myself. That should be reported and the farmers should be charged with animal cruelty.
They should establish a government agency to inspect establishments like this to issue proper care of the animals including humane ways to kill the animal.
All animals should be hunted instead of farmed fair game just like any other predator on this planet.
