  • all you uneducated fuckwits

  • I would go lesbian for Ogre

  • find it weird that ogre is wearing kinda punk gear, still awesome

  • the guitarrist solo, have a t-shirt of psychic tv? awesome!

  • Somebody build a time machine, please. I need to go back and see this shit.

  • skinny puppy's version is better then this rock version

  • fuck yes!

  • Didn't Skinny Puppy have a song named smothered hope?

  • @goldensolder44 Haha really? GOSH what an amazing coincidence that the lead singer of Skinny Puppy, who was touring with Ministry back 1988, would be singing a song with the same name?! CRAZY!

  • I was 8 years old at the time of this show. If I had been there, live, I probably would've screamed like a little bitch and put my hands over my ears. Today I would harumph and go back to my 9-5 in the morning. Somewhere in between I was alive.

  • if the worlds a hell... what does it matter what happens in it?

  • bombastic..........

  • I was at this show. This is so amazing to see. Dave Ogilvie kicked me in the face when he stage dove during the opening song. I ost my hearing in one ear for three days because of this song. Amazing times. So great.

  • @bigbadchang Dave Ogilvie, the recording engineer, or are you talking about Kevin Ogilvie aka Ogre?

  • The guitar solo is great...what I love about live music is that depending on who was playing it, there is a lot of variation each time. The normal version was usually done by Mike Scaccia, this one is one by AJ. Pretty cool. Last time I saw Ministry was 2006 and really I was dissappointed, but RevCo, who opened for the them was amazing, Now RevCo doesn't even have any of the original members, even AJ. : (

  • i heard an awesome version years ago on a b-side to i think was the Jesus built my hotrod 12 inch much better than this version but still pretty cool

  • it's my voice ...my voice cries out obscenity

  • pure gem

  • saw this tour in ATL @ the masquerade...2nd best show i've ever seen. 2nd to Bad Brains @ the metroplex in 1987. agreed akira625...happier times

  • This is the most fucked up talent you will ever see in one place at one time.

  • try as I might to like this version, I can't....simply terrible

  • @luxonskinjob This is one of my favorite songs. But yeah, for some reason this version just doesn't work for me, either.

  • That drummer is incredibly good.

  • @Koettnylle it is unbelievably hard to drum skinny puppy songs cause they are sort of drum machine style

  • @MansonNiles11 Yeah. If you dig his drumming check out John Stainer of Helmet. Especially the early stuff.

  • @Koettnylle k thaxs

  • man,i never knew there was footage of this show!!!i used to listen to an audio version of this all the time.amazing!!!i am speechless!finding things like this make the internet all worth while!thanks a million for posting this!!!

  • reminds of reznor & manson at madison square... no comparison.

  • impresionante

  • By FAR the best live (Ministry) version of Smothered Hope I've ever heard... largely because you can actually hear Paul Barker's bass!

  • Nivek Ogre is quite awsome on this one

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • INCREDIBLE!!

  • NICE! But it dosent soundl ike their Industrial-Rock or Industrial Metal stuff, nice but i prefer original, original IS BEST.

  • why do you have to comment every vid of this cover on youtube? i agree with you but this version is WAY better than the dallas '90 version

  • you should listen to there older stuff, grandpa jergason really changed his sound over the years and as his side projects mutated

  • Noch ein Tick besser - und danach könnte man glücklich sterben -> it`s fuckin roll

  • this is amazing

  • QUE GENIALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ministry - Smothered Hope - NYC 1988

The last four symbols (in the title) should answer your question.

  • damn, now i'm asking myself how tired i've been to that moment. sorry for that dumb question

    :(

  • sp version is more better

  • But did you notice that it is Ogre on vocals. Some Puppy fan you are.....

  • hahah More Better learn to spell kid

  • uuh Im Sorry My last comment wasnt constructive, the proper way to say it is :Sp version is better you dont need to use more

  • WHAT A SONG FUCKING SICK

  • It's Grandpa Al and Ogre during happier times, too bad that union didn't last very long. Together they managed to make the already brutal song "Smothered Hope" even more so.

  • A true badass time in rock n roll, and I missed it. I was an 8 year old Beach Boys fan.

  • great!!!

  • You can find this song on the Burning Inside single...

  • ...which can't be found anywhere! :(

  • Yeah it's been a while. A friend of mine bought the Burning Inside single back in highschool around 90 or so. Very rare and you'll need a record player to play it.

  • You can also find a 1989 version in the MINISTRY Box (collection of singles off Rape and Honey, the Mind.. and Psalm 69), but that might be rare too..?

  • i had that, but i dropped a spine on cd2 (no joke), and lost this version for a long time.

  • A... Spine?

    That's just not right....:D

  • Incroyable. Merci de tout coeur, thank you very much.

  • FU**ING AWESOME

  • Sweet.

  • Yes this is so great thanks very much. Ogre sounds so bloody raw on this.

  • thanks for sharing this!

  • Great & rare clip :)
