the pipe coming in at the side is not your ideal or new one, and yes it works as i have done it, as my friends have, but the air slows down when its going round, which is some thing you dont want.... have a look at videos on diygt channel, join group on yahoo diy gasturbines....
@Turbojetkart I'm not saying I was the first person to think of it, I just mean that no one showed me it, I hadn't seen it anywhere else before i tried it. The air may slow down when it goes around, but not as much as if you have a straight pipe coming in and hitting the flame tube perpendicularly. I will definitely check out the channel.
@OliMonster92 haha, well yes Movember is good too. But the engine is coming along nicely. Just searching for a few more parts before my next video is complete.
The reason why propane is preferred over liquid fuels (at atmospheric pressure) is that it won't collect and form a puddle in the piping/combustion chamber which if ignited would lead to a rich situation/resulting in turbine over=speed. Very dangerous as you will not be able to slow down the turbine very easily, it could disintegrate. Be careful!
@smeggle100 well, I've heard from a lot of people that it is quite dangerous to run normal gasoline. I'm not sure why though. I'm curious to look more into it, but I'd also encourage that you look into running it off of propane or diesel. propane is by far the easiest way to go, but only works best with smaller engines because it will limit your power on bigger engines. But let me tell you what to do, haha. just understand the risks involved.
