I miss Shea. Screw that clip joint Citifield. That is not a Mets Stadium, it belongs to he ruling class bankers. That is why the Mets and their owners are being punished for dealing with scum like Citibank and Maddof. . The Mets died when they demolished Shea. It should have been preserved like the Roman Coliseum for hundreds if not thousands of years.
Im with you Shea had something to it. Love it or hate it Shea was home. It was never taken care of by the city the way it should have been. If Nelson Doubleday would have owned the team Shea would still be standing. Wilpon loves the Dodgers so much he had to build a shrine to them. Look at all the heat he took from Mets fans when he was honoring Dodgers in his stadium and not Mets. I didnt know Jackie Robinson was a Met must have missed that one
I much rather have Shea Stadium over Citi Field. I mean they could have saved a bunch of money if the just replaced the seats in Field level because they were the only seats that were not on an angle towards the field, and the another thing is that Citi Field is dead silent during key moments in the game, while at Shea it shook! Literally shook!
nice memories, home of the New York Mets since 1964 until September 28, 2008.
Hosted 1964 All-star Game, 1969 WS 1973 WS 1986 WS and 2000WS. and the 2006 NLCS. Thanks shea for creating a lot of fun memories, and you will be missed forever.
i dont understand why they are tearing down al these "cookie cutter stadiums" the new parks are much seat less so ticket prices are much higher its just a scam to make the owners richer also who cares what the stadium looks like u go to watch the game not the stadium
want to know something?! know the singer billy joel? the best part about shea stadium was billy joel played his last concert at shea stadium cuz billy joel is my favorite singer the was the best part of shea stadium
Shea is the birthplace of Stadium Rock with the Beatles. It has been host to numerous events from Giant, Jet, Yankee home games and visits from legendary Rock groups and the Pope. It was across from the World's last world's fair in 1964. The stadium has a lot of history
I know theres a lot events but it's not old enough, but i could tell you only history in shea stadium when the yankees and mets world series in 2000 that was one of the best match in history. The reason i say that because it built on 1964. If shea stadium stayed like 103 years that would be history. Just relaxed a little the good thing Citi field would look just like ebberts field and you never know or may be that stadium would host the all star again in new york
Colchester United (Football / Soccer) played their last game at their old ground the other weekend! The new stadium is built round the corner from where I live.. will pop round and film it at some time.. :)
