This is a gem of a clip: sadly there seems to be very little of Airforce on film. They were an unwieldy bunch with an ever changing line-up but highly talented and magnificent when on full song. Graham Bond is a standout on alto sax here as is his wife, Diane Stewart, on vocals. I saw them one month after this performance at a festival at Plumpton racecourse, Sussex. By then Baker had added (exchanged?) Denny Laine and Harold McNair to the band. Great stuff! Thanks for posting...
Baker and Bruce hated eachother, Clapton wanted to produce music that was a lot different to what Cream played and the jam sessions were so loud that towards the end they all suffered permanent ear damage.
This is not Cream. This is Ginger doing his own thing. Unique. Obviously there is no way it can compare to the original. If you were at this show and had a good buzz on, I bet you would have been thrilled. The ladies look fine!

@Ddubya77 Never liked Cream much. I think the vocals on this are waaaay better, and the feel is nice and loose. Can't stand Jack Bruce on vocals, ruins everything he touches.
@BeamOut1 Everyone has their opinion and that's what's great about music is that it touches everybody different... I wouldn't mind touching those boobies :)
@groovebassist Thanks GB, they had Bud in above-mentioned credits as soprano sax. I should have figured in the absence of an ss that should have read as the opposite end of the scale, down with the beloved bari. But I'm not prejudiced, that's some great Graham Bond blowing too, on alto.
Wow. I barely recall this show.I dropped so much acid the day prior that I was pretty much immobilized. I used to get completely stoned to Ginger's albums throughout the 70's.
Graham Bond was one of the most under-rated musicians of the 70's - but then Ginger Baker was almost the only person who could ever keep Graham focused.
Once Graham escaped from the Airforce he went completely mad - and killed himself.
Wow! Very cool to hear a version that's a cross between heavy blues-rock and big band! The only original take on this tune I can ever remember hearing.
Amazingly powerful brass section...really does the main riff justice.

I saw them at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, probably around 1970. The best live music I ever saw (including BB King and June 1st 1974).
A few years later, Graham Bond stopped the train I was traveling to work on when he jumped in front of it.
It is amazing how much you can care about such things.
