I haven't trapped since the mid 70's and I MISS it. Dad still has all the old traps. #1, #2, #3, spring traps, jump traps, kill traps a few box traps. there rusty but still work. Thank you for this
an honerable and almost lost tradition, most people dont even have a clue that at one time America's major income came from trapping and fur production
the jaw spread might be a little small, i prefer a no. 2 or no. 3 but if i were you i wouldnt try for them in anything smaller than a no. 2, but if 1 1/2 coilsprings are all you have availible they should work fine
hey in my town we have a problem with coyotes killing livestock and pets what do you recommend? i have a ruger 10/22 with nickel plated high velocity bullets think thats good enough?
No, get yourself a .223 or similar varmint round. Its a great excuse to buy another gun! I would seriously discourage the use of a .22 and even a .22 mag as they might not make a clean kill. Personally, I use an AR15 and its a great rifle for coyote hunting. Extremely accurate and followups are easy.
@luv2spd ... you use an AR15 in what caliber exactly? you do know that the AR15 model is just a particular model right? And that it can be chambered in a variety of different rounds.
yeah, knock him down them take care of em.. you can easily knock over a coyote with a 22 or 17. If you can pop them in the head, that should do the trick.
personall .17hmr with belistic tips to thevitals or head. Haven't not dropped one in one shot yet. But if you have the money .223, or 22-250 work great for long shots.
Yeah there are some on youtube, but I thought your beaver was having trouble in terms of population. American beavers are very numerous. I don't know if the same methods would apply.

.204 was recommended to me by a guy that deffinatley knows what hes doin. he gets payed to get rid of problem yotes
spearo92 2 years ago
.223 .22-250 and .243 does well too
ohiodeerhunter21 2 years ago
I recommend .223, rounds are cheap and it will get the job done.
wakawaka74 3 years ago
nope, get a centerfire .22....rimfires dont have the range or power to ethically kill a yote.
northshorerathunta 3 years ago
your wrong about that but most hunters prefer to use a higer caliber that a .22
