  • Well that is pretty impressive. My only problem is that they didn't focus on building something safe to begin with. That fact alone would prevent me from ever buying their product. Safety first! What's the point if you don't arrive alive.

  • Meh, as long as the manufaturers constantly aim to improve no reason, why they should not.

  • this company is only established about 10 years ford bmw toyota was found more than 100 years 10 years got 3 stars and 100 years got 5 stars which is improving faster??

  • I'm going with Ford and Toyota. The technology and demand is here, and I'm pretty sure either of them could manage 5 stars if they started out 10 years ago.

  • you will find out some model of ford has failed in crash test ~~ thats in 10 years model

  • Huge improvments. Kudos!

  • Just for the curiosity..Why did they go to Spain to re-test the car rather than ADAC in German where they got 1 star.

  • Don't know why - but what difference would it make? Has anyone ever asked where all the Renault cars were crashed that received 5*? C'me on, if the EuroNCAP is a standardized test, it doesn't matter who/where the test is performed. Or are you implying that the ADAC is testing tougher than the IDIADA. That would be a real scandal! Speak out here if you know something - but please, don't make implications the way you do!

  • Optimised, perfect Engrish!

oh c'mon 3 stars it's my 15 years old shitty ford!

congratulations by the way, you will reach 4 stars in the next 10 years!

  • it is too late, three is not enough, get five stars, or everyone will remember you as a shit.

  • there only a new company stmbaah....gee

  • Why did you not get it right the first time?

    You didn't care enough..

  • isnt it just the old daewoo leganza?

  • An improvement, yes, but still nothing to be overly proud of.

There is still more room for improvement. No doubt that the manufacturer will definitely make those improvements as they get better at making cars.

However, the market is more competitive today and the competition is quite fierce.

They should only be proud when their cars earn five stars for safety from the Euro NCAP.

  • Jumping to 3 stars in 79 days is pretty good though. And at least here in the US, we have plenty of cars that would do worse on the Euro NCAP (our tests are less comprehensive).

They do need more work though, looking at those crash tests it looks like the car is easily totaled because it sustains damage all over the place in accidents other cars would only need small repairs for. The roof rippling like that would immediately total the car.

Still, I'm impressed for 79 days.

  • Actually, IIHS tests are about on par with those conducted by the Euro NCAP; many of the same tests are used and at the same speeds, only how the ratings are compiled are different.

For instance, the crash test shown here is a frontal offset into a collapsible aluminum barrier at 40 MPH (approximately 64 km/h). The IIHS performs the exact same test.

And, plenty of the cars, including European and Japanese models, that would fail the IIHS and Euro NCAP are also cars that are no longer made.

  • And, even though they got the improvements in a short amount of time, that doesn't change the fact that the competition has cars that still perform better.

And, they should continue improvement of the platform with the goal to earn 5 stars.

Hopefully, for their sake, they will in short time because a prospective customer may take the better-rated car if there is only a minor difference in cost.

  • To clarify the contention: "And, plenty of cars, including European and Japanese models, that would fail the IIHS and Euro NCAP are also car that are no longer made."

The point is that the crash worthiness of Chinese automobiles are about a decade, give or take a couple of years, behind that of European, Japanese, American, and South Korean automakers. Chinese car safety is comparable to cars not being made anymore by other automakers.

They can improve and the sooner, the better.

  • I don't see how a crippled roof would total the car itself.

  • This car is just for the test LoL

In mass production, the same old one

Less reinforcement = cheaper = profit, Chinese just love that!

People? Too many in our country.

  • How do you know? You better stay serious and don't make claims you can not prove or engage in China bashing!

  • Great improvement!

  • good !

  • sigue siendo una chatarra pero al menos mejoro

  • Brilliance in Chinese = Rubbish? lol. I would rather have a Golf GTI to be safer.

  • "your safety is important to us" they must be joking this car has only 2 airbags....even my 12 year old vw golf has 4 airbags(i have the german version of it) and new versions of vw golf have 8 airbags and 5 stars

  • as i remembered... the saturn ion has 2 and the 04 or summthin dodge ram had none... the f150 heratige was miserable. and the montana and neon got like 1. this is a 2nd try, jsut like how modern american cars r 2nd tries

  • trucks like those in the USA are not classed as cars, they're classed as commercial vehicles so they do not have to pass any safety tests.

  • i kno... but the point i was making was about the "your safety is important to us" thing... obviously ford didnt consider it either now did they >.>

  • "Your safety is important to us" they must be joking those people who tried to sell their chinese bullshit should sit in this car and then they should do the crashtest again.....

  • you got to be kidding me. 3 stars is bullshit, smaller cars like ford focus, toyota auris or even renault clío can easily reach 5 stars, they really care on our security. Chinesse Brilliance just wants to sell their bulshit cars.

  • I guess you have not see those pics about a VW crossover crash into a truck. The driver on the VW was chopped into 2 piece, but the truck had little damage. So, I guess a 4/5 stars VW crossover is bullfuck too. Those Germen used test result to fool consumer and trying to sell the their bullfuck cars. I hope your aware there tons of 5 Stras cars failed to protect passengers and their accidents are more ugly than this test.

  • whoa are u tryin to defend BS6 (BullShit6). the results speak for themselves. and if you replaced the VW you talked about with the BS6, hell you'd be lucky you where chopped into 2 rather than being fused with the car with no remains to bury.

  • Yeah right, seems like being chopped to 2 pieces is less dead than turn into ashes. Why cars are getting "safter" (let's assume so) but there are more and more people get killed in accident across the globe? Go figure!

  • A frontal offset is less dangerous than an actual truck. In a frontal offset, it is like hitting another car. In physics, the larger object always wins. A truck is 15 times more heavy than another car. Nothing can save you in that scenario. But if you can't even pass a test crashing into another car, you have real structural issues. No side or curtain airbags and no stability control. That says it all. If they really cared about safety, they'd add those in. Even Hyundai has it.

  • Three stars is still a joke for a newly designed car.

"Your safety is important to us" - bollocks.

Buy a European Car, it might save your life one day!

  • "Your safety is important to us"... ever since we realized that selling rolling coffins was bad for business...

  • well I dont want to say but its still only 3 stars, way below any european or pacific rim cars.

  • Current Chrysler Voyager scored 1 Euro-NCAP star in 2007. Is this any better? And have you ever heard andybody complain about this? My impression is that this whole thing is most of all a PR-issue: you have a good PR-department = nobody cares. You are not quite as professional = everybody believes you are the worst (though not true).

  • well I did know about the voyager actually. Hence why I said european cars and pacific rim cars and purpusly excluded american cars. Although christler is part of the mercedes group it is not built or designed by mercedes. And yes euroncap is very important. I would not dream of buying a car with less then 5 star rating or equivalent for driver safety. And I think any cars scoring less then 4 stars should be ban from the roads. whatever country they were built in.

  • Let's reviwe the cases of the Chevy Tracker and the Toyota Camry.

  • The reenforced BS6 has a way better performance!

  • Still don't trust!

  • Why not? They did some good job on this and there seems to be no reason not to trust!

  • I prefer to wait the next EuroNCap

  • This was EuroNCAP! IDIADA is official EuroNCAP institution and test was all to EuroNCAP standards. So what's wrong with it?

  • Are you a Brilliance lover or is this your job?

  • I'm just not a China-basher like many here seem to be and believe some realistic view of this is only fair. Commercial press seems to be "influenced" by European car lobby too. Or have you seen any photo/video of the improved crashtest out there? All they use is the old stuff which is outdated by today as the car they refer to is not sold anymore.

  • it's good they made a car commerical like this.

  • That's better.

  • Well , im , it looks like there is some improvement , but they should test it again in Germany where they have more strict tests , For me I prefere the 5-star ENCAP super mini renuolt Modus on it ... Please it's not about the size at all

  • I don't thinkg they have more strict tests in Germany. ADAC tests according to EuroNCAP standard and the test we see here is done exactly to EuroNCAP standards (after all its EuroNCAP not GermanNCAP!)

  • Damn right it's safe!

  • Seems safe.
