  • is her surname .jpg??

  • The host looks like Amber Rayne with bigger tits

  • In which Museum is the "Mathematical Engine" ( The first computer invented by Charles Babbage ) in?

  • @1k1llc47s

    Science museum London !!

  • @keirfree Awesome, I might go there now, I live in Birmingham :)

  • from what I remember the cray 1 had 4x450 pentium II equivilant cpus

which translates to about 2GHz total computational power

    no fansy video

    no fansy memory

and today you don't have to pay 10 million dollars for that.

if uncle sam had his way you wouldn't get anything at all but a coffin.

  • That's just plain wrong, it was built in the 70's! And it can "only" do 136 million floating point operations per second (megaflops). An old 2GHz P4 can do 8 gigaflops (that's 8000 megaflops).

Now the Cray-1, and other vector machines, take one operation for doing one operation on 1 million values (in turn), making it about a 1/4 faster than the same operation on a equal "normal" (scalar) cpu... but it's still quite a long way to go to beat that 2GHz pc.

  • @azkeyz "which translates to about 2GHz total computational power"

HAHA YOUR THE DUMBEST FUCK IN THE WORLD THAT MEANS SIX P2'S EQUALS ONE I7 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • Great vid! I forgive you for rick-rolling me earlier. :)

  • the movie about the Krays(infamous British thugs/gangsters) was done. there some relation to the Cray manufacturer?

  • nice username :)

  • what is that song at the very start and end intros???

  • Today , thanks for computer science ,You can talk to any place in world for a pennie, buy anything and even work at home ! You also have wonderful new possibilities with medicine , and arts. But if you go to see the show on theater , you must walk on polluted and dangerous streets. You breath smoked air, and at end, find yourself a cultural robot !

  • they run xp?

  • @eliwhitney haha minus Cotton - Gin et GREYGOOSE?

  • I really would love to visit this museum. But I live In sweden. And this museum Is In Silicon Valley, United States. Taking a trip to america Is expensive.

  • ABC was built by Dr. Atanasoff and graduate student Clifford Berry in the basement of the physics building at Iowa State College during 193942.

    1946 ENIAC, 1949 EDVAC

  • this is cool. I would love to go to the museum. The first computer I remember is the Texas Insturments personal pc

  • Cool stuff I want to go, IGWOS

  • Veronica is hot :)

  • prrroar!

  • Nicely done presentation.

  • wow....

  • watch?v=Hz9b53o95Xs

  • big part of our life for: work, play, gamming, Oh and yeah, PORN! =D

  • Veronica is hot.

  • What? No info. on the Eniac? What kind of compouter history is this?

  • A thin slice of that dislectic pie, computer techs and historians can talk for hours about computers so all you saw was a tiny sample!

  • Cool (just wanted to know.) : )

  • I had a Commodore 64 :) it took a whole day to program it to start a game from one of those HUGE flexible floppies, and you never knew if you miss typed the path, or if you inserted the floppy the wrong way around (they had two sides)

  • It took you a whole day just to load a C64 game from a floppy disk? They normally loaded in under a minute!

Or do you mean actually typing in a whole program from a magazine?

  • I agree, It didn't take that long to load from a floppy but it took forever to load from the tape player! Go away make coffee, check the post, phone your mother, is it ready yet? There were turbo programs to assist speed in loading but that only just halved the time it took to load. Isn't it wonderful how fast PCs are now, and people still complain!

  • My first computer had no colors, no sound, no hard drive, no floppy, no CD rom, and only 1ko memory and I loved it !

  • dude.. every descend person knows all this.. :D

  • Anyone actually interested in history of computers should look at last chapter in downloadable PDF "Is the Devil in Your Laptop."

  • gay

  • KLKLK

  • they didn't even take a look at the turing machine...CMON, atleast they showed a picture of it:(

  • Probably because it wasn't a US invention ;)

  • cool

  • watch?v=6OGKK5hpN18

  • you are just trying to show us your fucking ugly car...

    YOU SUCK!!!

  • ohsdg

  • Dallas Texas has one too but their is waaaaay bigger!,.. Livewire- :P

  • Yea, Dallas all the way ;P

  • I want to rub my weiner on Veronica Belmont

  • the tagline mentioned something about ancient computers so i was sort of expecting to see someone like fred flintstone standing next to a giant stone computer. the video is super and so is the CRAY-1!

  • search squirrels vs penguins. plz comment

  • Ancient?Isn't that going a bit far? Aren't you afraid of making those around in the 50's feel like you are saying they are ancient? Interesting video,though.:-)

  • With the rate of which computers are evolving, it is more than safe to say that that is ancient. Moore's Law explains all of it.

  • I feel you. I am still thinking that some older folks might feel like you are saying they are ancient because the computers they used are being labeled ancient now. Irrational,I know, but that is how folks can be.

  • She's tasty

  • That was very cool.. i must visit them for my vocation when i leave Barbados to go to the USA

  • Good video, it pretty crazy some of the stuff they had, like for example When NASA put a man on the moon, The computers in the Apollo command module were less powerful than my Ti-83+ calculator

  • You really have Nazi scientists to thank for the moon landing. In operation paperclip, when America welcomed Nazi scientists like Wernher von Braun and co-opted German technology, the v-rocket mechanics were the basis on which space travel took off for NASA! IBM also used Germany tech and funding, since they were one of America's largest tading partners with Nazi Germany! Change NASA to NAZI! Without the Nazis, believe it or not, there would be none of these advances!

  • von Braun was not really a Nazi, that was only true on paper. He joined because they were funding his hobby rocketry group--von Braun had followed the work of Robert Goddard as a child. Indeeed, he was jailed by the Nazi Gestapo because he talked about how he did not really want to make weapons, but wanted to travel in space...but a high-ranking offical got him out of jail.

This is well-documented public knowledge. Read before you post.

  • More well-documented public knowledge: Von Braun built the V2 rocket for the Nazis which was used to bomb civilian areas of London and killed about 3000 people. He knew what it would be used for, yet he still went ahead and built it.

You can't take the Nazi's money, build them weapons that killed thousands of civilians, then claim you had no real connection to the Nazis.

  • The V2 didn't really kill a whole lot of people. You also can't blame people for being stuck in a crazy system...there were plenty of experiments during the Nuremberg trials that proved this. IBM did help the nazis though.

  • The V2s killed thousands of people, you don't regard that as being a lot?

Von Braun might have been forced into the army, but he wasn't forced to give the Nazis the world's first ballistic missiles.

Think what would have happened if the Nazis had succeeded in creating an atom bomb (which they were trying to do) and loaded it onto a missile.

  • Just like the New York Times knew that Stalin had already killed 3 million in the Ukraine, in the 30's, and didn't report a word.

  • "You really have Nazi scientists to thank for the moon landing."

    Thank you Nazi scientists.

  • good history

  • 3 million watts, Holy Crap!

  • yes she was..

  • Great video! Wish it was longer.. :)

  • wasn't she at cnet?

  • hey it's veronica belmont..what's she doing here..and what happened to BOL?

  • is bill gates the first computer related criminal?

  • Thanks For The History Lesson.

    Peace

  • I wanted to see the latest beast.. anyways.

  • this was sage

    Shit
