  • WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?? Thanx for sharing. Inspiring and enlightening!

  • @bazucchini Thanks for your comment!

  • @gospelkeys07 Thanks Clifton - good luck with your studies!

    - L2L

  • @gospelkeys07 The keyboard is on a table, not a keyboard stand which allows me to set the tripod up on the table over the piano. The video is then flipped using video editing software.

  • Wonderful talent! Awesome!

  • Very Nice ... especially from 2:15 to 2:23

  • Nicely done. As soon as you started, I was like "Hey, in Ab...Keith Jarrett". Then I read your description. Thanks for this wonderful video.

    Another Jarrett fan,

    John

  • I appreciate the comment John, thanks!

  • Thanks again L2L for this fantastic video.

  • I appreciate your comment.

  • Great stuff Frank, Its interesting/funny how much equipment/software goes into making some videos. I too do piano vids and you start out focusing on the piece and you end up fussing over ligghting, props and VST's its fun but funny too!

  • Thanx 4 posting this video. I found it easy to follow the changes. However i still encounter some challenges with my right hand

  • By and chance could you send me this video? At least the song please. My friend wants to use this song for her singing contest.

  • Wonderful rendition of my all time fav jazz composition. Frank Loesser was the best. Absolutely terrific playing - loose, inventive, and, most of all, swinging. Thanks

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • Proper! very nice. and I thank you so much for the note highlights. I'm trying to take my improvisation to a higher level. Do you have any words of wisdom, or methods of learning that you can impart? be it popular scales often used, or using arpeggios to stretch a chord.........?

but thank you again. your time is much appreciated

  • Amazing job!

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • I Love This Song It's My Favorite Jazz Song

  • Who's doing the bass and drum?

  • Backing track created using Band-in-a-Box software (PGSoftware) using the Real Drums and Real Upright Bass feature.

  • How do you do the run on 2:16-2:17? Is it a natural position that your fingers can play or did you have to learn the fingering? I have been trying to do it but can't quite get it right....my real fast solo runs I can play just happen to be in my comfort zone...that is why I am asking....great job!

  • That's just where my fingers fall naturally, I don't really think about it. Thanks for listening.

  • Awesome rendition! You've captured the spirited chemistry radiating from the young Gene Simmons and Marlon Brando as they shared this duet from Guys & Dolls. They had fun with it and so will all who listen to you!

  • very nice swing it ;) how the sound came out ??

  • The lead sheet I have starts off with a G7 - the dominant 7th of the II chord in the key of F. Maybe you have a different lead sheet?

  • Who cares what it starts on! Thats a small detail even if it isn't the right chord.

  • You've inspired me to LIKE this song!

  • yeah, I got 2 learn a lotttt...

thanks for all your vids pal

  • 素敵なジャズ喫茶に来ているような気分を味わらせて頂いています。日本でも新しい動画を楽しみにしているファンがいます!!

  • You inspired me to learn this song!

    :) Vik

  • And I actually did.Not that anyone cares... :)

  • swinging with taste as always.

  • Thanks for the comment Mark - much appreciated.

  • Hi Roger,

Back from the op and have been ecovering for almost 1 1/2 weeks now. Good to come on Youtube and see this video waiting to be heard. Great. Thanks for your support.

    Bruce

  • Hi Roger!

Nice work ! I really enjoy everytime I see (hear) you ! Well done my friend! The rythm section is really good as well, friends of yours? Bravo et merci!

    Sergio from France

  • Thanks Sergio. The bass and drum tracks were created using a computer program called Band-in-a-Box. ;-)

  • Yeah Roger! I love pausing your videos - so in actuality, it takes me about 20 minutes to get through each one:) I LOVE the Db in the melody right at :39 just before you go to the Eb. *****

  • one day i pray i can play like you thanks for the upload i anxiously am waiting for the next upload thanks L2L

    from your internet student,

    kyle

  • Thanks for listening.

    - L2L

  • Inspiring. I always love your playing and this is no exception. Great tune too.

  • This wild cat simply has much more fun than all the others. But, he plays so well with all the other kitty's in the nest. Erie cat says "meow wow" Thank you for this one.

  • ***** as always. Thanks!

  • Swing, Swang, Swung. You did all three!! I've never played this before. Interesting choice. *****

  • Great playing!

I'll be honest...the piano sound sucks :( It sounds like a non sampled yamaha keyboard piano sound, the really old ones...maybe a better decay but that's it.

And I agree that Jarrett produced a great version of the piece...but I usually have that opinion about almost everything he plays hehe.

    ♪♪♪♪♪

  • Yes, I agree the TruePiano VST plug-in is lacking in tonal character.

  • No digital piano/sampled piano/etc. sounds very good at all in my opinion. (I'm a sucker for that moody, dark Steinway sound, but a well-voiced Yamaha can sound great too) However, good grand pianos cost a boatload of money and take up a boatload of space, so sometimes you've gotta take what you can get. (I've got a real Rhodes, but a crappy Yamaha P70 digital piano, for example)

Thankfully, Roger's got the talent to make almost ANYTHING sound awesome! Yet another great video and song!

  • Thanks Dan. ;-)

  • Of course "electric appliance" will never sound like Steinway, but some of them are really close or sometimes at least satisfactory (I've Roland machine and it sound better than any other acoustic piano I've ever played; but true is that I've always played the pieces of crap).

There is something "living" in dat musique :-) Nice one, Roger

  • Nice! Swinging! I love that you played the tune in A flat. That's Oscar's key. It sounds so much better in that key. Great job!

  • Great work Roger, swing is absolutely your element. I could not see the last chord, but I have heard :)

    *****

  • Grazie Alfonso.
