Kim Novak's Eva in Satan's Triangle and Karen Black's Amelia in Trilogy of Terror both have the Bang On Scariest Smiles ever seen on a Made for TV Movie and my Memories of the ABC Tuesday Movie of the Week back in 1975. I have both Collector's VHS and DVD's. I Highly Recommend Them!! Truly worth Seeing! 1970's 4 LIFE!!!! HOOAH!!
So cool horror movies fans pull this one off! I could not believe when I saw it. And it would be impossible to find this without internet. So cool, I wish some producer remake this one keeping the thriller, curring the corny music and the creepy laughing as they will not help.
They did mate. Can I recommend U a classic 70's TV movie? Dead Of Night. 3 short stories.. 3rd one is the one :-) That's another one that made an impact.
kingligger, I'm only one year older than you, and it still gives me chills. They just knew how to make scary movies back then, and you don't see many like them anymore. Somewhere along the line it became about the maniac chasing people with a machete, axe, butcher knife, chainsaw, or whatever. Any bozo could do that. Today it's all about the cheap scare instead of true horror.
Yeah eze417. That smile is pure evil. I had to turn ot off when I was about 10 lol. I've got a copy of the movie now, so have managed to watch it to the end. How brave for a 45 yr old lmao
This was the first time that I remember seeing Kim Novak in a movie.
That evil smile of hers....oh dear God....only Florence Marly in "Queen of Blood" ties with Kim for first place on the list of scariest movie females.
@vardiss22 Oh, yeah, I totally forgot her. I also saw Trilogy of Terror as a child and was horrified by that last scene. I'm going to have to wait until daylight and work up the nerve to watch it again. Thanks.
@eze417 This was another one at the time frightened the shit outta me. Last story from Dead Of Night, made by the same director who made Trilogy Of Terror
@eze417 This was another one at the time frightened the shit outta me. Last story from Dead Of Night, made by the same director who made Trilogy Of Terror
@eze417 ..LOL.its on Youtube (the last part anyways which is reason EVERYBODY remembers it) both for Karens creepy preformance and the killer Zuni doll of course .
thank you so much for posting this. watched this on my own at my grandparents house when I was about 10, couldn't sleep, snuck into the lounge late at night hoping for a western and got this, frightened the living shite out of me and probably destroyed most of my mental faculties. watching it now it's laughable how differently we view pretty much anything as kids. thanks again
@brt101 lol yeah I know what you mean. When I watched it again for the 1st time in about 30 years, I thought to myself, 'That isn't the face that I remember. The other one was much scarier' ha !
@kingligger Did you not see it? I don't want to be a spoiler for people who haven't seen it yet. So if you want to know, contact me by private message and I will tell you how it ended.
I remember being maybe 13 or 14 when I saw this. I was spooky as all get out. I remember another such movie during this time that i have always wondered about. From what I remember these people were on this island and it seems like the host, I thought was ricardo matalban, gave some spooky monologue at the end a one of the visitors was running terrified while all the others around him stood frozen in one spot. Does anyone recognize this an know what TV movie it might have been??
Do you remember a TV movie called something like "The Game." It was about a country boy who is taught special powers by his family. He can "go" inside an animal's head like birds, etc. He can fly and see things that way.
Yep it still does now even tho I know it's about to happen. Same as the head popping out the sunken boat on Jaws. Will never get over these. They made such a scarey impression on me
The ending credits of "Cat Creature" . I was terrified when i heard that voices in the seventies. I saw it again last night and..., Damn, it's so embarassing!
I was too young to see Jaws on the big screen, in 1976. So, when I watched it as a grown up it was a minor schock. But the first scenes (the girl eaten alive by moonlight) are a true hoorror classic.
I was around 9 or 10 when I saw this, and the end part freaked me out. This has been one of the scariest scenes from a movie for me. But didnt it finish where the pilot turned around to see the priest instead of the girl.
@Tedebear1000 The very end has Doug Mcclure's character lying face down dead in the sea then suddenly his head shoots up and grins maniacally as the evil passes on to his body....as far as I remember!!!
I remember watching this when I was 10 or 11 - it scared the crap out of me! Seeing this reminded me of another made-for-tv horror movie, Stranger in Our House, where Linda Blair's visiting cousin is a witch. That one freaked me out too at the time. I would love to see these entire movies again.
I'm surprised that this film was never remade. It was chillling. There was many scary made-for-TV movies back in the mid-70s, The Night Stalker among them.
Saw the original airing of this in 75, then again in 76. Kept me awake for 2 nights after seeing it both times. Found a guy selling it on Ebay. The end still creeps me out. How bout a re-make?
I watched this when I was 11, and I never saw anything after the helicopter crashed into the ocean. I turned off that TV and ran upstairs as fast as I could. It's been more than 30 years and this clip still gave me shivers. This movie scared the hell out of me.
@TvGyrl i agree 100%....i was a kid in the 70's when i watched (or tried to watch lol) some of these classics....like Don't Be Afraid of The Dark, Trilogy Of Terror, The Stranger Within and The Car....incrediable era in t.v.
Was 9, still scared of it. Why..they find this boat only one survivor (the blonde) who tells what happened, how all the trouble started when they found a priest floating on a wreckage. She recounts all the deaths for the McClure character. Right at the end of the scene above they look back, the blonde is gone, the priest (same smile) is there. They go into a crash and (others correct me if I'm wrong) the pilot's praying, one appears to survive (but it's still the priest/satan).
Yes, and then the priest/satan takes on McClue's body just before the rescue ship arrives. Wasn't it scary and wonderful at the same time! Kids today have no idea what a scary movie is. Ha!
@Ionisus .its in the context of the story..you have to watch the entire movie for it have any scare/creep factor...(although that still might not work due the dated nature of the film)you would have thought that the director would asked for some kind of special effect "evil" glow to her eyes to give that moment just a little extra impact.
Add me to the list! Scared the hell out of me in '75 when I was 14. Aviation and triangle nut, NOT a big horror guy, so it really hit home. Plus anything with Doug McLure (The "Bad" Robert Wagner) always get's a good bad movie seal of approval. Another great one with Doug is "SST-Death Flight" from 1979.
I remember seeing this when I was about 12 and had to sleep with the light on that night, would love to see it again. I remember McClure's character selling his soul and that sinister grin on his face when he popped up out of the water after crashing the chopper.
You have to see the whole film to get the terrifying significance of Novak's eery smile. Actually we are expecting her to be surprised by the info told by the talkie walkie man. Her smile is a confirmation of the scary revelation. She is the devil no less. A charming one, which makes it even more dangerous...
No need to see the entire film to be terrified ! I was a young teenager when I saw this movie and it chilled me to the bone. I just turned 40 and it still has the same effect on me. Seeing this short clip terrified me again ! That smile...
Holy Sh#t! I remembered this from my childhood, gives me chills just watching. Didn't really know the name of the movie just remembered it was about the bermuda triangle, at least I think. I love horror and nothing really scares me much these days but this terrified me when I saw it. I'll be sleeping with the lights on tonight! LOL
yes greg its a cracker. i saw it as a child here in Great Britain too and ive been looking ofr it for years. would love to get it on dvd. another cracking film is phantom of hollywood which is also on you tube. a classic tv movie from the 70's
Wow, I thought it was just me. Saw this in my late teens, in the middle of the night hoping to watch ms novak looking hot. The last few minutes scared the absolute crap out of me. Could barely watch the clip now. Thanks, for the bad memories.
Another of the "40-something" crowd here. This scene still scares the crap out of me and I'm a grown man who wears a gun and a badge to work...so, you see how profound it is for me. Ranks just slightly ahead of Linda Blair on The Exorcist.
I saw this film on abc in 75, at the age of 14 and haven't seen it since, except for this bitty clip. Man o' man I wanna see it so bad. his was right near the end
Wow, the seller even has a DVD case. I wonder if that's something somebody made themselves or if its actually being offered by a company? I'm asking them about it
It was aired on ABC, so it's very doubtful it was officially released on DVD. The best copy you'll find will probably be a version copied off TV. The movie was aired a few times through the years.
Wow, it's funny to find out that this film left a trail of terrified kids over the world. Not just me! I watched it at the age of maybe 8 or 10 and had a full sleepless night afterwards. I've remembered poor Pagnolini ever since...
Looking at that clip all those years later, I can certainly understand why. Kim Novak is fantastically demoniac there, and the fact the two men are mature rather than fresh-faced makes their terror all the more impressive.
Paganinni..saw this and mysterious of the bermuda triangle on summer vacation on WTBS in the afternoon when i was 12.never 4got it.and yea, funny how thee ol 70s scary flicks were so haunting.
The female comedian is excellent in that sequence. I don't know why, but I think that if the movie was made today, it would not have that much effect on me. The films in the 70's has something special. The music makes things so much scarrier.
@kingligger ...i agree they often played it VERY straight and also very understated..... alot stuff was left to the imagination....another BIG reason was the fact that many had endings like this one that were either unresolved or just plain VERY unhappy ...theres a few ones that stand out for me like Don't BeAfraid of The Dark, Trilogy of Terror, Burnt Offerings , The Stranger Within and Phase IV..all had very memorable creepy/unhappy endings.
Well, I thought that no movie could scare me anymore, but after viewing this clip... I think I'll wait a bit before going to bed... I saw that movie in 1977 when I was 13. I think I would be as scared as I was at that time. If available on DVD, I buy it right away!
Me and my brother did exactly the same thing at the time. We were terrified. Had to wait years for it to be repeated, but we were prepared for it next time LOL
I watched this when I was 11, but I never saw anything past the helicopter crashing into the ocean. That ending freaked me out so badly that I turned off the TV and ran upstairs.
Kim Novak's Eva in Satan's Triangle and Karen Black's Amelia in Trilogy of Terror both have the Bang On Scariest Smiles ever seen on a Made for TV Movie and my Memories of the ABC Tuesday Movie of the Week back in 1975. Well, I thought that no movie could scare me anymore, but after viewing this clip... I think I'll wait a bit before going to bed... I saw that movie in 1977 when I was 13. I think I would be as scared as I was at that time. If available on DVD, I buy it right away!

When I was a child, I was so scared I turned off the television when I saw this smile.

I always thought one of the pilots was Forest Tucker from F-Troop fame. Ending totally creeped me out as a kid! Too bad we can't find it anywhere.
