I'm not sure how this is any more useful than the power key/wake-up key on your keyboard, or the icons in the start menu, or ctrl alt del.

All it does is add clutter to your desktop. Most power users have 0 icons on their desktop. They look ugly and get in the way of productivity, in my opinion.

Nope, This is only a shortcut. If you actually scroll through the directory and launch Shutdown.exe or Restart.exe, It'll do the same thing.
