Israel has quite the reputation for being a conservative state, to a fault, in fact. This is, of course, because of it's very Jewish fundamentalist slant. That is, at least, how my corner of the world perceives it.

that's the beauty of Israel (in my opinion). on one hand we do have that sector of orthodox citizens who are conservative, but on the other hand, many people don't know that most of the population are secular.

our television, for instance, is more daring and less censored than that in the US, and in general we are very open minded and liberal.

maybe it's our location...because we're the only democratic country in the region.

so it's almost half and not most.

we have poor propaganda, and that's why people know what they know about Israel only from TV, which is of course mainly bad things.

The songs don't fit? WHAT? Eli Bizsawis translation from English is a work of art. Fitting all the information in English into Hebrew, which has oh so many more syllables, is an Herculean task, but I think they did great at capturing the spirit instead of just a direct translation.
