I'm English, have an MGB my father gave me in 1989, and love the fact that someone in the world is enjoying improving theirs. Consider, before you give your opinions, how many MGB's have rotted away in the UK and how much longer this car now has to live because of this persons time and money. Not my cup of tea, but good on you, you are being a good custodian. And the next one can always put a crap engine built by strike happy brummies at the end of our hapless motor industry back in! Like mine!
@barnaba19 This is an MGB. The production numbers over the years ran nearly 500,000. It is not an expensive car to buy or own. Parts are plentiful and affordable.
Performance modifications and minor custom changes don't hurt resale value. So why not have some fun with it? That's what this car was made for.
I have respected the integrity of the car. All changes are easily reversible and original parts changed are in the garage. The next owner may go for originality!
@barnaba1964 the interior is not original, where are the two carburators Stromberg? I see only one and an a strange equipment near the carburator...that's not original. The color of dashboard is not original, in addition ther is a rollbar it's not original also that....you talk about the originally of this car....the american people have a strange idea of the originally of a car....
I like the way you fabricated the cold air induction system. I'm curious to know whether you ran the supercharger initially with the stock air filter set up and, if so, whether the cold air induction made a noticeable difference.
@arhalle The SC was originally installed with the stock filter. It ran fine that way but the intent of this intake is to reduce power lost in high ambient temperature and reduce chances of detonation. The stock air filter sits nearly over the exhaust manifold which has to lean out the mixture in city driving at lower speeds. I doubt there's any real power gain.
Definitely yes. Low end power is much improved to where you can start in second or third gear. Top end is much improved as well. Without driving a SC'd MGB it may sound like hype but it was worth the expense. The installation is easy enough if you have a 5-main engine as it is intended to fit. It transforms the car without a lot of engine machine work and engineering as long as your engine is in good condition to begin with.

how much faster is the acceleration and topspeed with a supercharger installed?

@greenandfunny
All I can say is, the power gain is very noticeable. Never flat out opened it up so top speed is unknown.

What did you do to the crack of doom? Just weld it or put a patch behind it? Just wondering for my winter project. Love your car by the way.
