Hi- thanks for the info on the Iwana. I do not prefer one method over the other and conditions will dictate which is better on a particular day. When the stream is very low and clear as in summer its nice to cast a long light fly line to rising fish at range. In a hatch when fish may be rising all around the Tenkara might be more efficient. Tenkara is an interesting method to add to traditional western fly fishing. I don't think it will replace it. Dry flies very soon.
Just a heads-up your Iwana 12' is actually a 6:4 ration and not the misprinted 7:3 you see on the rod. Typo during printing of info on that rod so it is really a 6:4 just as a friendly fyi. Thanks for the video.
So then Jon which system do you prefer to cast with, a Tenkara rod or the tradional rod and reel? When I read the articles in the FF+FT I was put off a little by the recommended precautions you needed to take when putting the rod up and taking it down. Still, variety is the spice of life. On a different note can I ask when you will be getting around to tying up some dry patterns please? regards, Peter
should always keep the rod fully collapsed and only expose the red Lillian when attaching your leader
