I'll be honest, still pissy that Dhani didn't get a song to sing at the concert. I know he was probably trying to avoid it looking like an ego trip or like he was capitalising on his dead dad, or whatever - but yeah it's a shame. Would've been cool.
I'm so glad that George has reached the point of moving on. He is an old soul that has left a major legacy in his wake. This was his final curtain call, his last go round on this soil. He was so blessed to have had such a grand send off. And by that I don't just mean this concert, but his final 58 years in this realm.
Don't get me wrong, I love George...but it kinda makes me wonder, how come there was never a "Concert for John?" I mean, John was an awesome musician too...
@chandramaofficial george could have died in the knife attack u know. They are both talented, and they are friends, best friends. so never compare any of them.
@katucheegee Because everyone knew that John was a hypocrite who completely abandoned his eldest son and ran away with a drug addicted Japanese whorebag.
"We were in Bob Dylan's garage" ... the simplicity of humble successful artists reminds me that we are ALL here to share our gift of light with each other and we are all the same.
Why the fuck didn't Dhani (or Mini-George, or George MkII) get a fucking song to sing for himself at the show? I loved the performances, but let's be honest - hearing Dhani would've been way better than listening to Tom Petty.
Omg, Dhani is a cutie pie!!! He looks so much like his daddy!! Ughhhhh I wish tho that he wud cut his hair to the way it is here and not keep it so long
@shopaholicgurrl I think he looks good no matter what he does with his hair, but I must admit that when it's short like that you just wanna run your fingers through it and mess it up. He really is just the cutest guy ever, isn't he? There are better looking men, but something about him is just so damn irresistably charming.
I just watched the concert DVD. It's awesome. I thought for sure I'd skip parts like the Indian portion but it's all great and I could not NOT watch every minute. Highly recommended.
@theemmers15 yeh good point. I think Dhani picked up on George's own ambivalence towards Paul, which in turn made Paul awkward around both George and probably him too. Underneath it all they all loved each other as brothers, but George had to push back extra hard at Paul to ensure he kept out of his shadow. Paul couldn't stop thinking of George as his little brother, which George found suffocating and patronising. Just my own view, but what do we all know at the end of the day?!
Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Ravi Shankar, Chris Stainton, and Jim Keltner---they all played at The Concert for Bangladesh in 1971 with George. Amazing how good they still sound all these years later. Can I give this more that one thumbs up?
all these old guys were so influential and so hip back in the day. its weird to see them as a bunch of grandpas, but then to look at old footage and see how they were the driving forces behind the 1960s and 1970s counterculture.
Me acuerdo cuando compré este dvd antes de que saliera lo pedí en mix up y cuando lo acabé de ver lloré como niña ja ja pero es la musica mas hermosa y mas sentida que se haya hecho George Harrison te echamos de menos todavia.
@Dill70 They were separated when Clapton and his wife hooked up and eventually married. Harrison and Clapton remained friends and even referred to each other as "husbands-in-law".
Why do people always need a bad guy in the story? Silly.
At first I thought I was watching an interview with george when he was young or something! they look so much alike!! anyway, I love dhani! he;s sweet (L)
@1023ems Paul was never really around when Dhani and George were- George was not exaclty friends with Paul- he preffered John and Ringo, and John was never that interested in other kids- leaving Ringo to be the only one who played with all 3 other Beatles' kids since Ringo was the only one all 3 others got along with always
he sounds like George too- its sad he never got to sing the whole concert- if anyone deserves the right to be on stage at the memorial concert dhani did. Dhani has his own band and writes music too at least.
I don't think so- he played instruments, especailly guitar with his dad George on a few songs and later after george's death he finished the Brainwashed album because his dad George left specific directions on waht instruments to use on each, and exactly what he wanted done.
After George Harrison's death on 29 November 2001, Dhani Harrison, in collaboration with Jeff Lynne, completed George's final album, Brainwashed, which was released in 2002. Dhani participated in the Concert for George on the first anniversary of George's death.--- -Wikipedia
In March 2006, Harrison made a guest appearance on Liam Lynch's Podcast Video Variety Show, Lynchland.[5] They performed a duet that will appear on a Lynch album. He collaborated with Jakob Dylan on the John Lennon song "Gimme Some Truth" for the Lennon tribute album "Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur", which was released on 12 June 2007. Dhani is credited on two unreleased Traveling Wilburys tracks under the pseudonym Ayrton Wilbury, a tribute to Ayrton Senna.
In April 2006, it was announced that Harrison's band, thenewno2 had begun recording. The band released a music video, "Choose What You're Watching", on its website. thenewno2 features Harrison on lead guitar, synthesiser and vocals and Oli Hecks on drums and synths. He also contributed to the 2007 EP by Heather Porcaro & the Heartstring Symphony, Rooney's 2007 CD Calling the World. --Wikipedia
He was involved in a re-working of the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" entitled "The Heart Gently Weeps", which was the first single on the Wu-Tang Clan's album, 8 Diagrams, released in December 2007.
thenewno2's debut album, You Are Here was released online on 11 August 2008 and in stores on 31 March 2009. The song "Yomp" was featured as a downloadable song for the Rock Band series, and "Crazy Tuesday" was on Rock Band 2.
I agree- it's becuase Ringo cared for Dhani most- he played with him as a kid- like another parent, cause' Paul was too busy then with Wings. Paul was basically Julian Lennon's stepfather though cause' John died and Yoko hated Julian cause' Julian wasnt her kids- he was John & Cynthia's.
@tatywaty11 you wish! as do I. . . as does everyone i am sure. . that be crazyyyy if you were actually telling the truth. . but i highly doubt it. sorry
@jimleerules In many societies, old family friends are referred to as "uncle" or "aunt" out of respect In Hawaii, where George spent his last years, everyone is your uncle or auntie. It's as normal as if they were blood relatives. We don't have sticks stuck up our bums.
@RubberBeatle at the time of my comment, you would be right, I did not know that that was george's kid. however I did figure it out after the first reply to my comment. but that aside, it was just an observation, and something to point out that I found funny.
If you love George and you haven`t seen the Concert For George in its entirety, please rent it or buy it. It is one of the finest pieces of live music you will ever hear, extremely tight, played lovingly and emotionally by the people that George spent his life making music with. A remarkable event...

@RubberBeatle at the time of my comment, you would be right, I did not know that that was george's kid. however I did figure it out after the first reply to my comment. but that aside, it was just an observation, and something to point out that I found funny.

Another scary thing is, that the son of John Lennon was born in the day that John Lennon was born. Interesting, isn't it?

The remaining Beatles once commented that it looked like they got older but George stayed young when playing with Dhani.

If you love George and you haven`t seen the Concert For George in its entirety, please rent it or buy it. It is one of the finest pieces of live music you will ever hear, extremely tight, played lovingly and emotionally by the people that George spent his life making music with. A remarkable event...
