Thanks for just telling me what the pedal is the guitar and the amp. Some of these jerks reviewing pedals have made my list of people I would use as a human shield if I were being shot at. Oh yeah I built my own JTM 45 with some guy's Mercury Magnetics trannies he never used. The most expensive part was buying the real deal Marconi Osram Valve Genelex tubes, or maybe the speakers. I ran some Celestion blue alnicos, then found a Vox solid state Thomas turd amp. SCORE! They used real UK cones!
@Satchmoeddie You gotta remember companies like Vox, Burns, Arbiter, and even Marshall were sold out to marketing corporations. Then they were marketed in the USA, and this is where the fun began. Baldwin bought into Burns and Arbiter, and Thomas did the whole bastardization of Vox selling solid state shit to every kid who was a Beatle fan. Unicord owned the Marshall name. I was lucky I had an uncle who owned a music store in a town with GIs bringing stuff in from Germany, Japan and the UK!!!
Brett, I 've got the same amp. Followed your advice and got the Catalinbread DLS over the OCD. And I am pretty happy with it. But I can't get the plexidrive out of my head and the euro/dollar ratio is pretty good. Which would you chose between the DLS and the plexidrive for Classic Marshall sounds?
Great job on the demos. You are my 'go-to' guy for checking out pedals. I was wondering if the plexidrive pedals I'm finding that are white and a little different looking than yours are still the same? Also, where can we hear some of your band? Rock on mate!
@1gratefulLeper Hey Rich, I think they're the same but with slightly different graphics but Brian Wampler could clarify this (if you could, please, Brian.) I only have the old versions of the Wampler pedals. They're probably just as good as the newer graphic versions but I must try and get some newies to demo for you guys.
@GabrielGR That mic would be a Violet Design 'The Amethyst' Standard. I've used that mic pretty exclusively for the last two years or so. It seems to do the trick but I'd love to try a Royer one day - when I get some bucks. :)
@Burgerman666 Hi Brett, ok thanks - yeah, tried the 20 w version at a local store. With humbuckers and moderate gain it was kind of "early Malcolm" tone in that Lionheart,,,,which I like! See ya// Jonas
@gree17 In this video? My good friend MIke Gibson, aka 'The Gas Station' at HCFX and TGP made those for me. Very excellent they are, too. I still use them although I'm under agreement to show only Providence cables on the toob now (and they're bloody great, too!)
hey Burgs, which one would you choose as your plexi pedal / main-distortion-box, the plexidrive or the DLS? they both sound amazing, but I have only the money to buy one. thank you, keep on rockin & demoing :D
@FrankBottazzo Hey Frank. You want a Plexi-in-a-box? I have to give that award to this one. The DLS is great too, but doesn't nail the Plexi sound as well, IMO. It does, however, make a great Marshall type box with which to stack other drives into. But if you want a one-stop stack, then this one is very hard to beat. Rock on.
compare plexidrive with plextortion, they seem the same, but one is tone control and the other is EQ, righ? does it mean that plextortion has wider range than plexidrive?
I tried this Plexi Drive the other day and wow, this is by far the best od pedal I've tried, it's amazing, the price tag turned me off from it though.
@1957goldtop don't be so serious... it is a guitar gear video... beyond that... could burger possibly be a commie? Look at all that evil capitalist gear he has!
Fantastic... I'd like to hear more of the Plextortion but I think I'm going to go with this one since i already have a Catalinbread DLS and need something for the JTM45 sounds. The DLS is great for JMP/JCM tones but not for the JTM stuff IMO.
Man... This guitar is really beautifull! Love it. :-) Brian Wampler is a gentelman and a guy who is always sharing his knowledge with us. I have the How to Modify Guitar Pedals book. And I´ve learned a lot from him! Thanks for another Kingman® review! :-)

Hey! Quick question. What mic do you use for your Laney? Large condenser? Ribbon or something?

Hey Brett, love your guitar tones as you know. About, your amp, is it a LANEY L5T112 LIONHEART model? 5 w with Celestion G12H speaker. Cheers - Jonas

@JonasSweden1 Hey Jonas, Happy New Year. :)
Yes, sir, that's the amp alright. Stock standard L5T with greenback. Love it.

@Burgerman666 is it from Threadless?

Yep. Best online T-Shirt vendor on the Net IMO. I have around 40 of their shirts. Damn things are nearly as addictive as pedals! :D

@Burgerman666 Totally agree. Their 5 and 10 dollar sales are just about better than christmas. haha
