I was at this show. This dude can really EFFIN sing. I closed my eyes at one point in the show and you could swear Layne was still singing.

Aside from the fact Duvall's timbre is different, his tone is paper thin, his vocal range is 3 octaves less and he loses pitch when he goes high.....yeah, he sounds exactly like Layne.

80% of the assholes going to these concerts are just going so they can tell people they've seen alice in chains after everyone thought they were done. im glad new alice in chains has its own fan base, and the ones who liked layne will stay away. the only reason i like jerry still is because i know how much laynes death fucked him up, so i know he needs something to fill that hole in his life. and im sorry that things turned out this way for the rest of the band.

Layne had an effect on so many ppl, and he was a great part of AIC, and I've been a fan since i was a kid, the self tittle album aka tripod was the 1st record I bought, and if you consider me an "asshole" for seeing them without Layne is your own problem b/c you missed out on the surving tripod of aic. Mike, Sean, and Jerry will continue to sheed the light of Layne's legacy and if you don't like it eat some grapes b/c they still rock

Haha thats true, but i'm not one of those type of people, I know what real music is, and my main influences have been Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Metallica (old metallica), gnr, and so on. My Chemical Romance is just a trend sorta like Nirvana was a trend, but Nirvana was alot better then MCR

@kevinAIC33 True rock/metal speech.. boooriiiing... to me every Metallica age rocks in its own way and I have no mental problems or 'wrong' musical taste.

Also I love Layne era and I think he was one of the best rock singers, but people move on, as Kinney said, if the band did, why shouldn't their fans? Sure, they should stop playing together, doing what they love almost as a "family", because Layne died. That's not fair.

always a beautiful song. It´s not about trying to relive something in the past, it´s all about the songs, the guys feel good about it, playing again,ahaving fun, and tributing to Layne, that´s all that matters. And The Singer It´s very good, and also a good musician

Is it not blatantly obvious that it's not the same? Why would it be? It's not supposed to be...stop saying that, everyone knows. Just enjoy it for what it is: a tribute to the songs, the voice, and the man we all love.

It's the same harmonies no matter who's singing.  The voice isn't the same, obviously. But better have someone else do it than let the songs die.
