I'm well aware of this issue in the synoptics. I put to you this question - if the entire thing were a collusion based on a single text, wouldn't the authors ensure that little discrepancies were eliminated, like how many people visited Jesus' tomb? If two people's stories lined up exactly, maybe they worked together. If they differ in little things but agree in the big picture, chances are they were not. And the KJV is not the only version of the Bible: Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Syriac, etc..

I think men did write the Bible. I also think that to an extent God inspired them to do it. But when it comes down to it, men will make mistakes, omissions, etc. The New Testament is a collection of letters and texts written by men to preserve the core ideas of their faith. They all wrote for different audiences and focused on different facets of the Gospel, but look at the theological principles and there's no contradictions. Nowhere in the Bible do the authors say they took dictation from God.
The big picture is that there is ample evidence on either side of the argument, otherwise you and I wouldn't be wrapped up in discussion right now. I've examined both sides from secular point of view and Christian, and I've made my decision. If you can say you've read the works of Gary Habermas, Lee Strobel, etc. which provide ample evidence for the resurrection, etc. and you're not convinced, then that's fine. I can't convince you now, but know that even faith is defensible by facts and reason.
In addition, everything that you can find in libraries about Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun, even Socrates and Aristotle, was written sometimes centuries after those people died - not from eyewitness accounts but by careful historians who collected and examined eyewitness acounts, analyzed texts, talked to the sons and grandsons of people who lived in the time etc. This is how history is recorded. Hardly ever do you have historians that walked with the subjects of their study.

How can you predict the behaviour and methods of God, when you neither believe in Him nor have any evidence of the way such a God would do things, were he to exist. Check Job 36:26. This means that man could not possibly begin to say what kind of job is a "good" job in God's eyes, unless God revealed his will to him. You've built your own God who should do things the way you would if you were him. But He is beyond our expectations.

I did not say that the Canonized texts were canonized within 50 years of the crucifixion. I said they were WRITTEN within 50 years of the crucifixion. Emperor Nero burned Rome and blamed it on the Christians far before Constantine canonized the Scriptures. I don't think you've done enough research on the texts, because the time difference between the events and the written accounts is 90% accepted by even secular scholars to be between 50 and 100 years. This is not even an issue.

We cannot communicate to the "Father"(don't think of it like an earthly father it's just a word to help understand the mystery) directly. Just as you must speak through the expression of myself that is my body's ears and eyes to reach my spirit and soul, so God has provided an expression of himself in Yeshua, through which we can communicate with the Father. It's strange that you would say this, because scholars accept that the majority of the Canonized text were written within 50 years of the crucifixion. The date of the texts is really no longer an issue. The oldest known book is the Gospel of Thomas, which is dated at 200 years, and really that's the only one that bears a stark discordance with the rest. For extrabiblical texts take at look at Josephus, a meticulous secular historian who does mention the HISTORICAL Jesus as a "miracle-worker".

Using Josephus as your source does not work. True historical scholars at the time do not even mention a "jesus" person that healed the sick, or performed his miracles. No historical evidence of the cross either. Romans crucified thousands.

You don't need evidence OF eyewitness evidence, because the eyewitness is the providing the evidence. You might say the eyewitness is not to be trusted, made mistakes, had poor judgement, etc. but my point is that it is still evidence.

Oh,i've come across plenty of "vulgar" hadith but many are in question. Compilers like Bukhari would put most or all hadith in their books but "rank" them according to authenticity. They lived in medieval times, so we can't expect all r most of their behavior, customs or remedies to conform to modern sensibilites. Hadith is non-revelatory so most of it is cultural custom and convention.

You must be famliar with Sura 4:34, which advocates violence against women upon literal interpretation, as well as Sura 8:12, which, again upon literal interpretation, advocates violence against non-Muslims. These are only two small issues, which Muslims clarify by saying that the Quran is open to interpretation. This is the role of the Hadith, and is critical in avoiding misinterpretation. But then Sahih Muslim, Book 40, Number 6985 says to kill Jews. Do you then just pick those you like???

The text is in the bible in psalm 119 but not in the context you're thinking - "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path". Recent comparisons of Isaiah, for example, with the Dead Sea Scrolls indicate that the language and content is 99% the same as that of the modern copy we have. Do your research. Secular scholars agree that mistakes of this sort would not arise because of how meticulous Jewish scribes were about their texts.

I'm well aware of this issue in the synoptics. I put to you this question - if the entire thing were a collusion based on a single text, wouldn't the authors ensure that little discrepancies were eliminated, like how many people visited Jesus' tomb? If two people's stories lined up exactly, maybe they worked together. If they differ in little things but agree in the big picture, chances are they were not. And the KJV is not the only version of the Bible: Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Syriac, etc..

I think men did write the Bible. I also think that to an extent God inspired them to do it. But when it comes down to it, men will make mistakes, omissions, etc. The New Testament is a collection of letters and texts written by men to preserve the core ideas of their faith. They all wrote for different audiences and focused on different facets of the Gospel, but look at the theological principles and there's no contradictions. Nowhere in the Bible do the authors say they took dictation from God.

The big picture is that there is ample evidence on either side of the argument, otherwise you and I wouldn't be wrapped up in discussion right now. I've examined both sides from secular point of view and Christian, and I've made my decision. If you can say you've read the works of Gary Habermas, Lee Strobel, etc. which provide ample evidence for the resurrection, etc. and you're not convinced, then that's fine. I can't convince you now, but know that even faith is defensible by facts and reason.

It's strange that you would say this, because scholars accept that the majority of the Canonized text were written within 50 years of the crucifixion. The date of the texts is really no longer an issue. The oldest known book is the Gospel of Thomas, which is dated at 200 years, and really that's the only one that bears a stark discordance with the rest. For extrabiblical texts take at look at Josephus, a meticulous secular historian who does mention the HISTORICAL Jesus as a "miracle-worker".

Secular scholars also agree that the book of Acts for example, is written completely from an eyewitness perspective, and the language closely matches that of Luke. Eyewitness evidence IS EVIDENCE. You don't need evidence OF eyewitness evidence, because the eyewitness is the providing the evidence. But the teachings of Jesus and New Testament writers certainly outline principles that will help us on this road to morality, God-pleasing behavior and true spirituality. I agree that one can be moral without them, but wouldn't agree they make it easier? I can't agree that accurate interpretation of these teachings threaten the survival of humanity.

Oh,i've come across plenty of "vulgar" hadith but many are in question. Compilers like Bukhari would put most or all hadith in their books but "rank" them according to authenticity. They lived in medieval times, so we can't expect all r most of their behavior, customs or remedies to conform to modern sensibilites. Hadith is non-revelatory so most of it is cultural custom and convention.
I think Muslims are wrong when they priveledge hadith too much.

You must be famliar with Sura 4:34, which advocates violence against women upon literal interpretation, as well as Sura 8:12, which, again upon literal interpretation, advocates violence against non-Muslims. These are only two small issues, which Muslims clarify by saying that the Quran is open to interpretation. This is the role of the Hadith, and is critical in avoiding misinterpretation. But then Sahih Muslim, Book 40, Number 6985 says to kill Jews. Do you then just pick those you like???

The text is in the bible in psalm 119 but not in the context you're thinking - "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path". So no, Jesus did not himself mention "lamp upon your own feet". I really don't even know what that means. But, let me just ask you. Why do you think Jesus' teachings and those of the apostles need to be shelved? Secular scholars agree that mistakes of this sort would not arise because of how meticulous Jewish scribes were about their texts.
