That is quite funny, 3 cylinders like a Chevrolet Matiz. The problem is, the smaller the engine, the harder and higher you need to rev it - so it uses more fuel than a bigger engine with 4 cylinders that isn't being thrashed. A small turbo diesel would double the MPG and give far more torque.

Diesel has overtaken petrol now for performance and economy, that's why no one buys a Prius in the UK! They do *LESS* MPG than a turbo diesel car of 1600cc which is a lot faster and more economical.

my school dropped a civic motor in one and stripped it to the skeleton of the car, you could dead lift the back end. a group of people can lift and move it. and it is mad fast but we had to pull the motor because kid bought.

i reccomend, they are light and agile, throw a real motor in there and your good to go.

i agree these things are great, and yeah these things are pretty gutless, but they last for ever (not rare to see em with 270k+ miles and still going) and they get better fuel mileage than a prius (at least the xfi) and you dont have to worry bout a battery that will cost as much as a metro when they go up, all in all you dont get these as the cool ride, in fact you might get laughed at, but who is laughing when you pass the gas station while everyones paying a kings ransom to fill up. lol

If I got one, I would remove all the seats except of course the driver's. May possibly put a lighter weight seat in. Take out some of the sound dampener material and so on. The car would be a little quicker/ safer and get 57 or so in gas mileage. Perfect for work commute everyday. I don't care if people look over like, haha its a Geo and a bottom end one at that. Oh well. I know people who laugh at the new Dodge Chargers, so, you can't please them all.

Its still painfully slow to me but I have seen other Metro videos on youtube and some are taking 20 seconds or more to hit 60. I take good care of my cars and I have a tach so I know when its near redline. It also has about 100 pounds removed from it so I'm sure 100 pounds less weight takes a lot of burden off of a 55 HP engine.

Well tomorrow i'm gonna cut off the stock muffler and weld in a resonator with a 2" outlet. Hopefully it'll help the entire exhaust flow as it'll decrease backpressure so theoretically should increase flow velocity in the whole exhaust, making exhaust flow faster through the cat so it'll get hotter and work more efficiently and not get clogged up as easy.
