  • @savedandgrateful Louis Johnson played bass on Michael Jackson's Thriller and recorded a gospel music album in 1981 eorge delivered guitar work for Steve Arrington's album Dancing In The Key Of Life (1985) and had ad-libbed vocals on the track "Think Back And Remember" from the Galaxian album by the Jeff Lorber Fusion, released in 1981 on AristaGeorge also performs these days with a special band, including Adina Howard, Cherrelle, Ray Parker Jr. which is an initiative of Michael Henderson.

  • Damn! I can't describe the feeling. This is such a high. Wow!!!

  • Does`nt get any Damn!!!!!!!!!!!! better than this pure instumental genius.

  • great toon. i brought this album when it graced this earth in the 70s. still have it tucked away in my collection. time flies when you're enjoying yourself as i did with my nubian jazz-funk loving friends - we gate crashed many a party and they were kind enough to play what we wanted to dance too ...grover, willie bobo, nina simone. was fortunate enough to see the brothers johnson live in london too. was a real pleasure. hope they are fit and well !

  • Nubian JAzz Funk.I like the way that sounds. Is this an actual Genre???:

  • The melody/guitar line that comes in at 0:47...words can't describe the euphoria this bit of music induces, it's truly heavenly. Like others have noted, so this is where OC got that sample from!! haha...I thought it was Tevin Campbell there for a minute too.

  • O.C dudes!

  • This is JUST SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

  • Buckwild is genius.

  • Sorry I found out about this song through a Blue Scholars sample. Song is dope!! that flute intro is amazing

  • Oh my God. I always thought this was a cover of Tevin Campbell's "Tomorrow". My Music-Fu is weak! Forgive me!

  • @maysonbanner We forgive you! This is the original, and a great song/instrumental that inspired the Tevin Campbell / Quincy Jones version. But good music is good music.

  • what say? it just beautiful!

  • I guess two people didnt want to see tomorrow

  • Heard that flute intro.....hooked!

  • this song makes me think of being at the airport about to leave my love

  • Wow, thank you for posting this!

  • Thunder Thumbs and Lightnin' Licks! Ah, what times!

  • Thunder Thumbs and Lightnin' Licks! Nostalgia is both bitter and sweet! The likes of these men and others of this era will never be matched!

  • good lawd! I am *instantly* whisked away to the summer of 1977...LOVE Bro. Johnson to the core!

  • dobre wkurwe - pozostało tylko sie chilloutowac jego mac :))

  • It's music like this you just don't here much anymore and that's really sad no one wants to play musical Instruments any more they only want to push buttons that do everything for you . You record junk, you get back junk. This is real music !

  • I heard this on the way to work at 3 am this morning. Amazing. Thanks KBLX

  • My memory is listening to NYC's WBLS when Ken "Spiderman" Webb & the late Frankie Crocker would be on the air & this track was played in the background...a h.s. girlie then.....☺☺♫♪♥

  • I know these had to be the days man just chillin in the hood smoking a blunt lovin life now u got to watch your back in the hood so sad

  • I love this cut...the melody takes me to another realm.

  • Its crazy why we dont realize that all music basically repeats itself.. My 19yr old heard the begining of this song and said " yeah dad, let that tevin campbell play!!!"... I said ok; but quincy stole it from the Brothers Johnson!!!! this music thing is so cazy... BUT I LOVE IT !!!!

  • @blkprince99 Haha I'm 18 and I thought Tevin Campbell's version was the original as well *embarrased*

  • Classic

  • Does anybody know what synth sound that is in the lead to the chorus?

  • Lovely memories.

  • @rickslick730 : Quincy discovered ( produced) these guys! This is his piece but the Brothers J brought this Sh*T to life! LOVE IT then and NOW!!!

  • @satyrxxxv ok!

  • Love that extra guitar lick at 0:55, always gives me the chills!

  • @BestMusicExpert-- this whole dog-gone song gave me one long chill from start to finish! Unbelievable!!

  • @squidaudio That is what real music (instruments) does to you. It touches the soul and warms the heart.

  • @BestMusicExpert Yes me too! Your put into words what I couldn't. It is one of my favorite parts of the song.

  • @BestMusicExpert Damn!!! It gave me one too!!!!!!

  • @deejaygrl I don't know if Quincy Jones wrote this for the brother Johnson's, but this is the original song were he later sample for his secret garden album, so this is not quincy's Jones cut! its the brother Johnson's cut, i love QUINCY J, i even named my son after him, but I'm only giving credit to were its Doo,

  • @rickslick730 The Brothers Johnson wrote this song, not Quincy. Actually, I don't Q wrote anything on this album really.

  • @CapLockFreak ok i dont know i was too young to remember!

  • @CapLockFreak u r right he produced on this album.

  • what a beautiful instrumental. this l like better. Had no idea it was the original....wow. lucky l have the CD greatest hits,

  • I never knew when Tevin Campbell sang this that it was a remake of an instrumetnal. It's beautiful - and this is why I love youtube :)

  • Wonderful. So amazing that Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye were behind so many of the great songs then.

  • I love this song, it brings back good warm feelings of yesterday ;>}

  • i remember my oldest brother having this on 8-track! great album

  • Love the lyrical version by Tevin Campbell too!

  • OC used this..so smooth

  • History is such a wonderful thing. It teaches you so much

  • OMGeeeeeeez!! Used to hear this when I was a kid in NYC back in the day. My dad was a huge jazz buff and we'd listen to CD 101.9 together. Miss you, Papi!! :0(

  • This song is so peaceful!

Check out Blue Scholars - Sagaba

They use a sample from this song, and IMO are a pretty awesome hip-hop group!

  • wow~Smooth.... relaxing my mind after a tough day!

  • i have to cry. something entirely wrong happened to the whole music industry in the last 15 or so years.

  • Classic Instrumental

  • I liked this song the first time I played the album. One of the best instrumentals of all-time. Kinda sounds like it would've fit in on the SHAFT album. (which also has some great instrumental songs on it).

  • I'm stunned. I didn't know Brother's Johnson made this first!

  • @HaydenAndrew1 it was, now thaey make u pay

  • Jazzy, sweet and funky!! Thank you very much!!!

  • Love the instrumental.

  • Love the instrumental.

  • This origina is Quincy Jones'...He produced this album..He did it again for Tevin...and I HATE that version by the way...

  • dayum... i thought this was Tevin Campbell song. Well good for the bros johnson.. I hope they got PAID!!!!

  • I'm ashamed.. I never knew...Q's was a remake. Right on...

  • don't forgety about Tevin Campbell and Quincy Jones' version

  • I'll add that Quincy Jones also produced Nelson Rangell's version, which is also twice as long. Check it out. :)

  • I had forgot that this was a Brothers Johnson original. Was listening to Nelson Rangell's version and in reading one of the comments which reminded everyone that BJ did this first. I just had to find it. It's been 30+ years since I've heard this but I do remember it. Love this as much now at age 49 as I did as a 15 year old back in the summer of '76. It's so go good to hear this again!

  • How did they come up with this smooth melody??? Pure lyrical genius!

  • lyrical genius. really?

  • Had no idea this was originally just an instrumental. This is the version rapper O.C sampled in the 90s

  • Beautiful and Deep! ... It brings All Happy Emotions to Surface! ;-)

  • Arguably the best instrumental of all time. Words can't describe the emotions this song evokes. And great choice of pictures victornewman06. Please post more

  • @Onewytlyter Thats awesome, but its an awful SHORT song!

    ;-D

  • @BestMusicExpert I meant to say Awfully short. Its an amazing song, not awful in the slightest!

  • @Onewytlyter-- You are honest, and there aint nothing wrong with conception while this wonderful song plays in the background.. I may have concieved one while this was playing..it is that good, better than my lovemaking..lol.. ~.^.~

  • @Onewytlyter I don't think that I would've shared that one. But this is a good song. I was in eighth grade getting ready to graduate grammer school when this song hit. it takes back that way. I still get those same feelings.

  • @Onewytlyter: I was 11 years old when this album was released & I used to sit & listen to this song & dream of having a son one day in my "Tomorrow".. That dream came true & he'll be 11 next year.

  • feeling this shit nigga oh yea

  • Brother rite emotion, but wrong vernacular....

  • I loved this song when I first got the album....always wondered why it was never played on Jazz stations..etc.

Sort of like a couple songs on the Shaft album by Isaac Hayes.

  • i know right regio cafe was a killer on the shaft albulm bro and early sunday those where to most jazzy songs on the albulm

  • wow!!!..did not know..lol

  • That is some serious guitar work brothers nailed it on that one.

  • Nice; I had no idea they did this song before Tevin Campbell.

  • I agree tubjiji...sounds crisp, mellow. A good "steppin" tune.

  • Such a cool jam. Looked for this one about 6 month's ago. Thankl's for load.

  • Classic beat have this on vinyl ! Great upload quality is on point .

  • Ken "Spider" Webb, a DJ from NY (WBLS-FM) in the 70's, used to play this as his back ground music, in the morning. I too, didn't know who it was until I bought the album. Great Song and album. Thanks for posting this!!

  • Thats the JAM RIGHT THERE!!!

  • much better without words. they get in the way of the beauty of this.

  • K-Murdock sampled this for Phoenix.

  • O.C. sampled this for his "Far From Yours" single

  • BJs Music was just ...kinda clean, pure.(for me) Since back then Music like that never existed again! But it does not need to, cause its there already! We just must not forget about it! :)

In my Opinion real Peace only can be found within within Music.

  • Such a calming and soothing melody.

  • at once relaxing and haunting.

  • Quincy Jones with Tevin Campbell-related videos.

  • nyc circa '76 107.5 WBLS , morning man Ken " SPIDER " Webb theme song , giving you traffic, weather and of course " COLOR OF THE DAY" , to coordinate your daily wardrobe

  • AMEN to that my brother i'm originally from NY and i remember that soooooo well but i neverknew it was them playing that piece until I actually bought the album

  • from 49-112 oc sampled it for far from yours

  • THIS IS THEE SHIIZZNIKK!!!

  • STRAIT MEDITATION

  • tevin didnt sample it quincy jones produced both versions

  • Listen...anybody trying to sample music from other artists; that should tell you where the best music came from. And ny music coming from Quincy Jones who helped produce the Brothers Johnson's first album is a primary example: music from the 70's and 80's RULE!

  • I'm Surprised No one Sampled This

  • how u come up with dat melody dats just genius

  • Braenchild82 where do you think Tevin got the song from? Brothers Johnson put it out first.. i know, thats where i found my first true/high school love. and we just started back talking after so many years passed soooo many, and guess what this is one of our songs>

  • Check out how J DILLA sampled this on "2Morrow" or "Prince" Excellent!

  • I can't find J Dilla's sample what's the title?

  • smoothest...no ....sweetness !!

  • Damn this is tight!! I like this better than Tevin Campbell's version.

  • very nice ...

  • soooooooooooo many artist have sampled this song...great to hear the origin of a lot of the songs i like...

  • yo tego calderon sample this on "a mi papa" very good song

  • This song came out when Tevin Campbell was born, 1976!!!!!

  • TOO SHORT!! I'm feelin' this a little too much, man.

Actually, I've heard this when I was a kid back in 1990, but it was Tevin Campbell's version and not The Brothers Johnson's. I didn't even know that this version existed. But it's really smooth.

  • I Really like this track. I think it can be put in the same class as Summer madness and winter sadness from kool & the gang when you talk about smooth shit. I have actually been trying to find this in a long time, ever since i heard Amazing by Grand Puba, cuz he sampled it. O.C also sampled it on Fra from yours

  • love this

  • I love this smooth groove and my 17 year-old son loves it as much as I do. Can't beat this type of music today. Thanks to artist like Brothers Johnson and of course Quincy Jones!!

    Peace

  • awesome song!!!love it!!!

  • Love it!!!

  • Good Quicy Jones song I can relax to.Thanks victornewman06.deejaygrl

  • You are most certainly welcome, sista :)

  • Quincy!!!!!

What a mastermind he is !

  • This is the jam!!!!

  • No wonder this instrumental has been sampled so often (Tevin Campbell- Tomrrow, and OC- Far From Yours). It is a classic and I think, one of the best instrumentals to date. And I like the slide show of pictures showing the various album covers, etc. Thanks Victornewman06

  • I absolutely love this song! I remember my big sister playing this album and I got attached to this song. I used to ask her to play this song for me everyday. I was just seven years old at the time, but I knew good music when I heard it!

  • damn this beat is so sick!!! Great!!!!!!
