this song brings back a library of cherished memories . this song is really really beautiful. Keep this diamond alive...it is one of the best in a livetime
Great song performed by a truly great band. The were inspired to record this after hearing Phil Everly's version from his first solo album. I'm glad it was such a huge hit.
I'm so glad that this video is still on YT. There's very few songs that I know have that have the sincerity, feeling and depth of emotion of this one. One of the greatest love songs ever written, and it doesn't sound for one second like it was written as a money making exercise. The best songs never pull any punches or come across as dispassionate. This is something that NEEDS to be shared in this sometimes desperate world!!! :)))))))))))))))))))))))))
did you know that every time creep by radiohead is played on the radio Albert Hammond (Albert Hammond jr's dad- the strokes) get a royalty payment because he was originally granted a co-songwriting credit on the song because of this song which he co-wrote in 1973.
I only know him with the Hollies,is there a book about the Hollies? If not somebody should write one. They are my favs.Wayne1king,tell me about.Tks,sueli.
Thanks for posting this. I was just trying to explain to my 20-year-old daughter that Radiohead seemed to have quoted this song in "Creep" but I can see that it's just coincidental. Love the song.
"Stomp Out Rap" sounds AWESOME ! This is one of my all time fav songs....and I have been around for 45 years, and into music for 43 of them, so I know GOOD music when I hear it.
Would you guys stop this already, Radiohead's Creep sounds similar to this song. Creep is better due to the reason for about 20 million views on their song. Plus if you didn't know I started this conversation a long time ago on this video.
(1) You didn't start this conversation you tool, there was a huge lawsuit over Creep years ago, its a commonly known case of copyright infringement and its discussed on EVERY version of this song on Youtube.
(2) And if 'more views means better' than apparently Bieber is the new Mozart, as his track 'Baby' has over 500 million views, making him '25 x better than Radiohead' using your own stupid logic.
Now please shut up and let the adults talk, thanks.
"No cigarettes -- no sleep -- no light, no sound"
"She's running out -- the door"
Both sung with the same tune.
I'm now confident that Radiohead created Creep on the basis of this song. But that does not make me love the song any less. It still takes talent to further improve that which is already incredible.
hey belisarius30 i have had the same situation and i it make me really sad. not because my friends at fb might not have known that but in my opinion after listening to this song it's hard not to love it. What kind of friends do I have? ;D

If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass.... Cant think of anything I need.... No cigarettes, no sleep, no lights, no sound...nothing to eat, no books to read....
Making love with you....has left me peaceful warm n tired...what more could I ask...there's nothing left to be desired...........................................
Great fucking song, of course anything produced by Alan Parsons is going to be great..but Allen Clakes's voice is awesome here. I was 9 in 1974 and this song was all over the radio....
I trust the Radiohead rip-off comments are kidding. This song was released in 1974. Radiohead formed in 1985. You're all correct though - "The Air That I Breathe" and "Creep" sound remarkably similar at the beginning. If anything, Radiohead "might" have been inspired a bit by this riff, but that's just a guess. Both are great bands.
I think the dude that wrote this song has songwriting credits on Creep. It wasn't a ripoff because he was credited though, unlike how the Verve ripped off The Rolling Stones.
I would never have let Simply Red Do this. THEY have missed out half the song, AND got one verse WRONG. I.e Thieves came upon me.... And instead of So Sleep, silent Angel, Go To Sleep, they have said Don't you sleep... A chaotic reorganisation of a Classic song that should NEVER have been re-recorded by another group.

This song is so hauntingly beautiful! They just don't make music as good as it use to be! Very few artist today could sing this song, but I would love to hear Adam Lambert sing this song!!! Haters don't bother to reply, I'm not coming bk to check this site!! Love, love this song!!!!
Excellent Band and singer. I grew up listening to the music made in the 60's and 70's and loved every minute of it! I agree with Neilzep that this song is close to perfect as any beautiful song can get.
I was born in 1971 and the youngest and only boy with Six older sisters. This is the first song that I can remember, i used to sing it when i was around 3-4 and my eldest sisters boyfriend would record it on his brown imitation wood, mono cassette deck. (I remember that too) Good times.
When I was twelve, this song graced the airwaves. I imagine the dried golden grasses - wild oats - of northern California, blowing in the summer breeze. I cherish these memories of a time that was. America doesn't quite feel the same now, for some reason - and I cling to these early 1970s memories vividly.
@NatureGirl62 - Hello. It's not your imagination. I agree that America doesn't feel as warm, hopeful, casual, united & safe as it did back then. I do my best to create the feel of it with my husband (a garage band drummer turned patent attorney) in our own home for our two children who love these tunes almost as much as I do. Peace, Love & Best Wishes to you.
@mjcamck Oh, how the mighty have fallen! All the way from garage band drummer, down to lowly patent attorney! Don't worry. There's always the food bank Ha! Ha!
@sixtiesrockboy - Hello. I can't tell if this is just good-natured sarcasm or you're trying to be cruel. In the 60's, numerous high school/college students formed bands just for the FUN of playing w/ no desire to "make it big" in the music business. My husband's fellow group members all had other career ambitions. FYI - patent attorneys all have double degrees & are in high demand. Sticking to the original subject, THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG W/ an uplifting message is a CLASSIC. Peace & Love to ALL.
@mjcamck Hi! Exactly the opposite! I was'nt diminishing your husband's accomplishments, but glorifying the kingly garage band drummer. Ha Ha. Louie Louie, which I believe was by The Kingsmen, was a garage band hit in 1964. I've been through so much in my life, including Vietnam combat, that I developed a sense of humor to help me survive! Wonderful song!
@sixtiesrockboy - Hello. First, THANK YOU for your military service. It was distressing to see the lack of respect for many Viet Vets. We (drug-free) Peace Activists were only against the conflict, Not individual soldiers who we wanted to see all come home safely. Otherwise, reply appreciated. I could see there was a chance you were laughing with us, not at us. You're right about the positive role humor can play in dealing w/ the travails of life. Best Wishes, Peace & Love to you.
he also did work with alan parsons another underated group, alan parsons worked with the hollies what wonderful times these must of been parsons said they were great to workm with
This used to be my favorite love song and still is after all these years!! How great to feel this way and everyone truly in love feels this way at some times.
i envy all those whom are 70z kids....damn everybod was happier and music was btter....it had more feeling innit...and hey it was about different things...unlike today which the majority of what is made...is about sex...or something....i wish i was a 70s kid....but my friend and i hope to bring the 70z back...when it is the 70s again!!! :P i love this!!! UUFF
Brilliant!!

Ott a laktanyában állandóan ezt nyekergettük, s ma is csodálatos élmény újra hallani!

Lehet, hogy Debrecenben sok baba fogant erre a számra...:)

Love is samadhi as Osho says.
But it drains one's energy.
There is something higher.
Meditation and non clinging.
