hi i live in wales near a fair ground called Porthcawl, very simular ride to this but sadly got shut down due to a rusty ring snapping and killing a child.
I agree that Storm Force 10 is a great ride, however you are missing the point...this is possibly the last example of a ride of this type in the World. I posted it for historical significance rather than its thrill factor. This ride was 48 years old when I filmed it...I very much doubt Storm Force 10 will ever see half that age, no matter how thrilling it is. Respect.
This ride does look extremely unsafe. It seems as if the cars are not attached very well to the track, especially at the bottom of the drop -- it looks like the cars could easily fly up off of the track.
True...it isn't exactly a white knuckle ride, but this was the very last example of this kind of early water attraction left in the world, as far as I am aware. What were you expecting?
I got very wet on the water chute at Rhyl in the early to late 1980s. lots of water in it then, my mother and late grandmother stayed to near the screen, got wet from head to toe
It may be...but sadly it appears to be the last of this type of ride in existence. A sad loss, regardless of whether it was very thrilling. Heritage is important, and we need to preserve such rarities for future generations.
Ahh yes, the infamous Log Ride. I actually found this much scarier than the Jetstream. Probably because it was rusty, rickety ,and well ...wooden! Hehe! Rode a huge wooden coaster ( it's name escapes me ) in Terra Mitica, Benidorm, few years ago. That was scary also! But then, I dicovered the kamikaze water slides next door in Aqualandia. Even scarier! Think it's because you're not strapped, barred or buckled in ,and you have to rely on the laws of gravity!
It is now sadly dismantled, some of it destroyed and lost forever, however other bits are safe, and will hopefully be used to rebuild it in the future at the proposed Heritage Park at Dreamland, Margate.
god that ride was aload of poop, but im still gutted that the fair has been closed down, its part of my childhood, we used to go there every summer to a caravan in towyn and head off into rhyl of a night :( RIP ocean beach lol
It WAS at Ocean Beach, in Rhyl, Wales. The ride is now gone, although the cars and most of the track and equipment are in storage with a hope that it may be rebuilt in the future on the Dreamland site at Margate, Kent.
This isn't true. Scenic Railway awaiting inspectors report on condition, but local council has issued repair order for the coaster, looking to get it rebuilt, possibly next year. Water ride from Rhyl still in storage at undisclosed location for future Dreamland heritage park.
This is just about the last of the original Water Chute rides that I have yet to ride. I will make every effort to get to Ocean Beach this August as it could sadly be it's last season.
Happily, I've heard that if this park's demise actually proceeds this ride will be saved.

Yea, this 50 year old ride will just all of a sudden start flying off the track even though it has not done so in 50 years.

Great video. It's a pity Ocean Beach came to such a sad end, and worse of all, they haven't done anything with the site 12 months on.
I have just edited 2 video's of Ocean Beach demolition Click on my username to view them.
Thanks

this ride looks dangerous and stupid you barley get wet
kp98 3 years ago
In Britain, not getting wet is actually a good thing I feel!
It isn't dangerous though...not sure why you think that.
The ride is (was) the only one of its type left in existence, and as such a historical rarity, it was a pleasure to ride...wet or not.
