I would love to automate & convert my home and convert others around here. However I can't even get a simple energy audit done in my area. Fla. power provides this service at a nominal charge. However my current utility provider as well as others do not provide these services. Which makes it almost impossible to get people to conserve when they can't get help. So what good does automating a home do if we can't get to first base?

Smart plugs between the present appliances and the outlet. Now THAT's something that can be implemented before all this smartgrid stuff goes national/global!

The first Smatrgid systems should be first installed in 3rd world countries, so that the engineers can asses threats, errors, inefficiencies, More importantly provide electricty to poor country's so that they can power school's, hospital's, jobs, Trade,and their overall living conditions.
