  • The Wall... Brilliant!

  • Oh because of the stroke he had...It looked like he had died...I get it ..sorry

  • A person does not have to be deceased for you to make a tribute to him. Do you really think that I thought that Kerry had passed away? I assure you I was on top of the situation with Kerry every step of the way. You should think about changing that username.

  • @rickyon how do i change my username? I 've tried...that was the only username that would work after dozens of attemps..I'll change it if i can.

  • You may have to dump this account and get another one. I don't think that you can change the name. Is there anything on this account that you would lose?

  • WmW!!!

  • A classic song! Wow!!! Good job finding this one Ricky!!!

  • Thanks Adam!

  • @rickyon

    XFOUR SURE...THANKS FOR POSTING...LOVE IT!

  • You're welcome.

  • I thought I had heard everything Kansas ever did until now. This Rocks. Thanks for the photos. Takes me back to the high school days. Kansas is still my favorite... Another 35 years please!

  • Why do you think Kerry Livgren is not with us anymore? You have a tribute to him, but he's alive and well. I was just on his website ,and he's releasing a brand new album...So you should fix that and promote that instead.

  • Does a studio demo exist for this tune?

  • Not that I know of. This is pretty early Kansas. It was probably written by Livgren before he hooked up with this final version of the band.

  • great stuff!...thanks for this!

  • You're welcome!

  • Nice nugget of history. Thanks for sharing it.

  • You're welcome.

  • The original version of The Wall. Fantastic.

  • Kerry loves his Gibsons.

  • Great stuff rickyon. Thanks for all you have brought us. I have looked for these lyrics as well, but to no avail.

  • You're welcome. As this was never released I would imagine that finding the lyrics would be pretty hard. I'll ask my Kansas guru friend and see what he says.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS RARITY!!! ARE THE LYRICS FOR THIS ANYWHERE AVAILABLE FREE?!! THANKS! GOD BLESS!!!

  • You're welcome. I'm not aware that the lyrics are available anywhere. Try Googling it.

  • Do you have another unreleased live song like Another Slant?

  • You can find "Another Slant" on the MP3 page of Rich Williams Meatwall website.

  • How come this song was Release?

  • Part of it was in "The Wall". Sorry I couldn't resist. I guess that they didn't like it so much and took it out of the rotation. Most of their earlier shows were opening for other big acts and so the set list was smaller and they chose their strongest songs for maximum impression. I would have loved to see this on the 1st album!

  • I can only echo the thanks of these many others!! AWESOME!!!!

  • You're welcome!

  • A classic!! Rickyon, thanks for sharing these awesome!! It really means alot to me. . a Kansas Fan!!! Carry ON!!!

  • You're welcome Adam!

  • This song is an absolute gem. I honestly can't believe it never made it to an album. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

  • You're welcome!

  • I have to hand it to Kerry: he made me retingk my beliefs..I'm still wondering ig GOD gives/allows a stroke to happen, or if it's just years of bacon. Really! Kerry is amazingly healed...I love that his wife talked about the episode...what a lovely couple. He said he couldnt' use his right hand anymore- has that changed?? RIck- u just need to start a fansite- U know the most,,it seems...

  • Debbie I am just very passionate about this band and spend lots of time reading about them and cultivating friendships with lots of people who are or were close to the band. I've learned a lot but there are many who know so much more. If you know about Kansas I'm going to try to pick your brain! Kerry's recovery is amazing! Let us continue to pray for his continued good fortune and his complete and full recovery!

  • WHOA.. Am I DREAMING?! This is SO COOL! Thanks for posting this! If anyone wants to see how Kerry's doing.. Go to a video I found on the 'TheFront1984' channel! He's there and talking!

    RAWK ON! 5 stars!

    ♫ ToMMeRz! ♫

  • You're welcome Tommerz and thank you for sending me the link to the vid with Kerry speaking at church. It was very encouraging to hear him doing so well! He wrote a long piece about the stroke and posted it on x-mas eve I think on his Numavox website. You should check it out!

  • Wow. Amazing song, amazing vid. I'm so glad to find that Kerry is doing very good after his stroke. Thank you very much Rick!

  • You're welcome Anton. It is encouraging to hear of Kerry's progress isn't it. He is doing amazingly well after only 4 months. Many in his shoes are permanently disabled! It appears as though he will make a complete recovery. We can only hope and pray!

  • I think he will make a full recovery: He can now play his keyboards, guitar, and is recovering his mobility!

  • Yes, it's VERY encouraging. Let's hope the progress continues so I can see him play live some day!

  • No Kansas member has ever commented on this tune. The best guess is that this tune was good enough to fit on SFA. I had heard that the 5 SFA tunes from this concert had already been written before Kansas actually went to record the album. Looks like "Devil Game" was the last tune written for the album and this song was dropped. Its a mystery why it didn't appear on Masque,, considering how weak "Two Cents Worth" and "Its You" are... Anything you can add Rick?

  • Your guesses sound good to me. I would love to read the source info that you have on this show and many other tidbits of knowledge that you have come across in your pursuit of Kansas knowledge! It's one of my favorite hobbies.

  • I've had this show for about 15 years,... I had always wondered why Walsh got a writing credit for the tune 'The Wall" when Livgren rates The Wall and The pinnacle as the 2 best songs he wrote.

  • Walsh must have contributed in some way to the final rewrite before recording because Livgren said that he wrote "The Wall" on his fathers Lowry organ which, because of the sound caused him to write in a different vein than he normally would!

  • Excellent.!!! I hear some Icarus in the song! Classic! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • You're welcome!

  • wow... dude.. i have this song on an old bootleg cassette... u r truley a deep kansas fan... as am i...so cool to hear how songs come together... the whole wall thing.. awesome!!!!

  • been looking sooo long on you tube to see if anyone has posted " just how it feels" walsh.... if anyone can do it it's u....

  • Totally cool! Thanks and Carry On!

  • WOW! Had no clue that this song excists. Yeah, KANSAS inspires me a lot in my life. Best to Kerry!!

  • 2:00 sounds alot like the end of "The Wall " song

  • That's because it is note for note. This song didn't last but part of it will live on in "The Wall".....Rick

  • Okay, thanks!

  • Was this gem of a song ever studio recorded/demo'ed?

  • I don't know Johnny. All I know is that my source said it was unreleased. It's hard to imagine a fully worked out song as this is not at least on a demo somewhere but I would imagine that only Kerry or Phil would know or someone else in the band!

  • I wish it were possible to give this more than 5 stars.

  • Thanks!!!

  • Nice song, too bad they couldn't find space on their earlier albums to include this one.

  • some great moments in this tune, Walsh sounds awesome

  • Very cool rickyon! Kerry isn't "Dust" yet!! He WILL finish his contata!!

  • Wow, awesome. I've never heard this one before.

  • Wow, what a beautiful song! I never knew it existed. I also enjoyed the photos. I hope Kerry will soon be on the mend!

  • Are you aka known as Hunnibee? The one who is responsible for an unmade man out there in the world?

  • I really hope Livgren will be okay. He's a great man.

  • Amazing and powerful, thank you Rick for yur hard work in putting together this tribute. Kerry needs everyone's thoughts and prayers, the rehab back from a brain injury like his is not easy...

  • You're welcome Karen. What's really crazy is I was just on your channel about an hour ago watching your baby girl dancing!

  • The bridge that you mentioned to a well known song, was of course The Wall from the Leftoverture album. I'm glad Kerry chose to use it again. And I hope he's going to be ok after the stroke.

  • Kerry Livgren is a genius, and i will pray for him!

  • Heard of Kerry's stroke yesterday... I really hope he's going to be alright again. Fantastic triubte and a great song, Rick :-).

    Michael.

  • It is amazing to hear how so many parts of this piece ended up being Kansas songs.

    Dave.

  • Heard the bad news last night.

We are all praying for you my friend !!

Kerry, Jesus will not take you yet ! You have more to give us !!

Rick as soon as the image at 3:11 came up I fell apart !!

    That hit me hard !!

    Great video my friend.

    Dave.

  • Kyle wrote a few minutes ago: "More news on my dad -- he had a massive stroke. We don't know how long he was on the floor before my mom found him, but we are thinking he wasn't there for long because ...of the severity of the stroke. Today he kind of mumbled some broken sentences that were hard to understand, but there were strung sentences kind of in there.

  • ( Kerry's son) he's doing better now thankfully... but not out of the woods.

  • This is a very nice song, I'm thinking they should release it on a future compelation, or do you think people would get confused because of the middle part being used for The Wall? Anyway, great post as always Rick. And god bless Kerry Livgren, a true inspiration.

  • Glad that at least a portion of this song was used. Kerry & company are always amazing. Come on, October. I want my DVD!

  • By the way, this is far fetched, but do you think that the music (not the lyrics) at :42-:50 sounds like the chorus from Curtain of Iron? It's not much of a resemblance, but it just stuck out to me.

  • You're welcome Cooper and like you I thought the same thing. It's actually amazing that with a band that has as large a body of work as Kansas you would think that you would here little passages in lots of there songs that remind you of other songs but you really don't!

  • Recently I heard about this song, but this is the first time that I actually got to listen to it. Thanks for sharing. I think this would have gotten some attention if Kansas decided to put it on either Kansas or Song For America. Glad they used the middle on The Wall. And God bless Kerry, I wish him the best and will keep him in mind and prayer. What a great man he is!
