  • this song is very beautiful.

  • Wouldn't it be chilly with no skin on?

    No.

Because your skin has nerves that sense the cold.

I'm not hating, I'm just saying.

  • this is now john marstons theme....

  • I grew up with this song.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

  • @VorswellMusic Thank you. I wondered if your experience was similar to mine. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday but I always found my experience of it in the religion-choked Bible belt lacking. It was always preached against in the youth groups I attended as evil and Satan-invoking and I felt guilty for liking it. But my school music teacher would put on her LP with GOJ and I would get a little taste of what makes this season so great.

  • @VorswellMusic If you don't mind me asking, what inspired you to revamp this piece? Where did you first hear the original? Just curious.

  • @bencamp18 Hi there! Thank you for asking. Gorgeous old folk tune, isn't it? You can read all about my inspiration for my Halloween Carols, including "Ghost of John" being a catalyst, on my website under the "About Kristen" section.

  • Have you seen the ghost of john?

long white bones and the skin all gone...

    oooooooooooOOOoooo

wouldn't it be chilly with no skin on?

  • My classes sang this in elementary school for Halloween every year :P

  • Love your added verses.

  • used to let my imagination go wild with this song as a kid. didn't know there were other verses...progressively weirder verses...

  • @verylittleknowledge If you click on the "Show more" button under the video, you can see notes that say, "Kristen Lawrence writes four new verses". So apparently there were no other verses (that I know of, anyway) until KL wrote them. On the other hand, I believe the tune is actually from an older song called, I think, "Rose" or "Rose, Rose, Rose, Rose". The lyrics start out, "Rose, Rose, Rose, Rose--Shall I ever see thee wed?"

  • @ssppeellll Thanks!

  • can someone please send me the lyrics!!!! PPPPLLLLEEEAAASSSSEEE!

  • @crazy1199en Lyrics for all my songs can be found on my website:

    Halloween Carols dot com

"Ghost of John" only has one traditional verse, so I wrote four more verses.

  • @VorswellMusic thank you! :)

  • @VorswellMusic how do i SEE the lyrics i found the song but how do i see the lyrics?

  • @crazy1199en Click on the tab right under the album artwork that says, "Lyrics". It will then display all the lyrics for all the songs on that album.

  • @VorswellMusic its really pretty. i like the extra verses on it alot more than just hearing the same thing over and over and over

Amazing. Simply amazing. I'm speechless <3

  • Beautiful and eerie- great new take on a classic song.

  • I think this would make a great suspense song for a horror film.

  • Have you heard of the Ghost of John? Long, white bones and the rest all gone! Oooooooh! Wouldnt it be chilly with no skin on? John belongs in a quaint nightmare. Wobbly jaw and a hollow glare! Oooooooh! Wouldnt things look murky through sockets bare? John is gone from feet to skull. Pointy elbows and clavicle! Oooooooh! Wouldnt it be harsh to hug Johns fossil?
  • Johns not sad; he has had his day.

Smile thats fixed in a rigid way!

    Oooooooh!

Wouldnt frowning be hard when lips decay?

John once said, Ive lost my head!

Empty thoughts top his spine instead.

    Oooooooh!

Isnt it the truth now that he is dead?

  • The very best version I've been able to come across. God bless John and the decades 'twixt him and I...

  • we sang this in 4th grade

  • Only one word can possibly describe this: epic.

  • @BriarsAndBones

    A horribly overused word.
