@ThisThingEaten Military eligibility. If you got a 1-A during ww2 you could be drafted a 4-F was deemed unfit for military service for whatever reason such as disability or failing tests
When Cartoon Network featured this in their old show "Toonheads" I think they mentioned that Jimmy Durante actually voiced the turkey caricature of himself
I seem to remember that the last half or so of this cartoon was used for a music video of a mid-1960's "classic soul" hit (might be "Rescue Me" by Fontella Bass, but I'm not too sure at this point) which would have aired on TBS's "Night Tracks." Anyone else remember that video (which I saw before seeing this cartoon in its original state for the first time)?
I remember that show "Tex Avery" that they used to show on Cartoon Network in which they showed all of "Tex Avery's" cartoons. It's sad because you never see any classic cartoons anymore. "Boom" channel shows a little bit of them, but only a small quantity. I miss "Looney Toons" and MGM and all those other classic cartoons. Those were the best ones!
1:04 Seems more like 2012 than 1620.

1-A? 4-F? I seen those in many Looney Tunes Cartoons and Tex Avery's Batty Baseball, but what do they really mean?

What's with the C card on the Mayflower? I remember an A card on Bugs Bunny's Plane, but I never understood it.

@jgbennie Actually, I think it was Daws Butler who played the turkey, and Bill Thompson voiced the hunter.

@RetroVideoFan Daws and Thompson were still in the military when this came out. Daws hadn't begun his animation career at MGM yet.
Thompson had to drop out of Fibber McGee and Molly because of WW2.
