This was drift smoke from a local mushroom farm. The compost material used to grow mushrooms can heat up to a temperature hot enough to ignite a fire. Fire department resources were on this fire for days. Deep seated fire at these types of farms can burn for days. It takes a lot of effort and time to extinguish these fires.

Wow, I totally remember this. I live in Oxnard and I was actually driving on the very same freeway that you guys were - I was probably one of the cars that passed you by.

@aligross You did not use Pinnacle Estudio....this guy (supercellstorm) doesnt know anything about what he is commenting on.....I am a Fireman for the Ventura County Fire Department and I know for a fact this occassionally does happen with drift smoke from a brush fire or large structure fire. This REAL!!!! I think "supercellstorm" needs to pull his head out of that dark place he likes to shove his head up into....and maybe he will see clearly.

@supercellstorm I am a Ventura County Fireman....The heavy smoke causes wierd light effects. Some of the effects are mind boggling and at other times the effects are beautiful. This is not FAKE.
