I think I could put up a good argument that this hole was built to fail though. I don't know exactly why - maybe carbon tax agenda - who knows?

I just know that the way they built it was not the way you drill holes in the seabed, if you want them to last more than 5 minutes.

While it is very likely there is more than one leak (to acount for oil volume), I'd be wary about accepting the casing has been "blown out," without evidence.

Certainly the casing can be blown from a hole. If you study the well plan you can see the final casing run was (deliberately) seriously flawed.

Normally when casing comes out of a hole, you know about it. (Certainly BP wouldn't tell you)

Matt has made a few inconsistent statements and i don't know why.
