i had to look at this just to put the back on it ....... im glad its not 360 ....ps.. the controller will brake if thrown at wall or spiked like a football so dont do it but will survive better than a 360 controller

IF CONTROLLER DIDN'T WORK AFTER READ THIS!!! The little black piece he sai must not be inportant goes under the circut board. The part he had to push back down it goes under that and pushes up the contacts to allow the ps button and start n pause buttons to work. Controller won't work without it lol

@TheDandHTV The thing that I don't like about it is that you either have to take it apart to replace it, or buy a new controller, honestly it feels like a scam. They changed the Analog sticks, why not just add a battery pack. I can kinda see where @Logie1998 is going, whoops battery leaked, all over the contacts, oh there goes my analog stick control. -.- yeah.

Anyway thanks for the video, huge help, I wanted to open the controller to replace the analog sticks with 360 sticks. :-P

Possible problem with broken controllers after disassembly: ESD (Electro-Static Discharge). This happens when you touch the circuit board with your bare hands without any grounding. You could have fried it without knowing. It only takes the smallest spark to ruin the whole thing.

This is a good tutorial. My sticks were squeaky, so I took apart the controller and fixed the squeakiness. I wasn't able to easily put it back together though... in the process i lost my beloved L1 and L2 buttons. But this was on my backup controller (which i was considering simply throwing away... squeaky sticks are the most annoying thing EVER) so it's ok. Sort of.

a little more clarifying.. that little black rubber thing needs to be placed behind the circuit flap before you put the flap holes on the poles that he refers to at 5:05 PLACE THE RUBBER THING BEHIND THE FLAP. it is there so the flap gets pushed up and touches the main circuit board. (main circuit board is the main piece which holds the analog sticks etc.). if that rubber thing isnt placed behind the flap, your controller WILL NOT WORK. you can see they left it out at 12:55. hope this helped :)

YOU GUYS!!! i found out why some of your controllers arent turning back on!!! look at 4:53 when he takes out the analog sticks do you see that little black piece that comes out behind the circuit flap? that piece is important! he refers to it as unimportant at 6:04 its that little black rubber thing. well that needs to go behind the circuit flap which he refers to at 5:04 .but when that thing came off the black rubber thing came out from behind it. its there so the two circuits touch!

Thanks for this video - was helpful. My problem is after I put it back together, everything is fine except my L2/R2. They work, but they just don't feel the same. Less springy is the term I'd use. And they don't retract back up all the way after I press them. I wasn't sure what to do with the spring when I was putting it back together (I left the springs as like an upside down V inside, but wasn't sure where exactly to place them). :/ Any help would be appreciated.

I had a hard time getting my R2 back on its place it fell apart with the whole rubber thing and only the sensor was there. I figured it out later but just try no to stress about it because u may end up breaking it and costing you a lot of money. So yeah it gets easier for the next time.

@delrey25 does it work on the ps3 while its plugged in? and have you used it on any other ps3's? it might be linked with another ps3, also try letting it just charge up and thn unplug it to see if maybe the battery is dead and the battery could be loose make sure its not, if this doesnt help let me know and i will try and help further

I pulled the ribbon cable out of the R2/R1 clip so it's exposed, I can't get that lined up again.... any suggestions?? There's a hole where the rubber pad, ribbon and plastic clip all have to line up, seems pretty impossible to me right now.
