  • if we can "graciously" accept the fact that the Navy's sonar exercises might well be the cause of the recent increase in beachings and other misadventures of these magnificent animals, perhaps we can and SHOULD pony the funds up to create a technology that can produce a warning or beckoning message to otherwise rescue these animals from inland waterways they typically have absolutely NO interest in. I believe in the strongest of ways that such an effort is very do-able ! ! !

  • I feel so terrible for both mother and baby. I just read about that this morning. The calf got out but the mother was stuck. I think she must have gotten distressed about her baby missing and might have thought it dead. That is my poor theory.

  • at the 4:34 mark that current is really strong to hold back that whale. was the tide coming in our out at that point?

  • Oh, how sad...I just heard that the mother whale beached herself early this morning and has died. We were very lucky that we had an opportunity to view her and her calf!
