NOW I SEE why the guitar has the shape it has! I love the way that it fits the player, it accommodates a very relaxed playing position while sitting down.
Check out Bill's album with Ronald Shannon Jackson - (Drums) and Melvin Gibbs (Bass). The group was known as Power Tools; the one album they put out was titled Strange Meeting.
The version of Unchained Melody that is on this album is also done with looped accompaniment, but is very wispy, wistful and delicate - a beautiful cap to a very powerful album.
sorry folks, I can't bring myself to really listen to this stuff. The beginning was very calm and relaxing, beautiful solo jazz guitar, I liked where he was going with it. But the whole constant crazed delay effects to me is just a guitarist indulging in his own coolness--- which is awesome if you're the guitarist! but for me, eh. So can somebody direct me towards some "must hear" Frisell stuff? preferably some stuff that shows his more traditional sound i guess.
Wow. Thanks for this. I love this era of Frisell and what a serious blast of music. What a sound he has on this. He's a tone master in general, but this video really gets that.
I'd listen to others for representative album. I've gotten to him a bunch live and I loved his band from then (and always really). He doesn't play much solo that I know of. The Frisell Trio live from this period is great. The one with all the covers "Have a Little Faith" is great. There's just a ton of Frisell out there, much of it great.
It just never ends with Bill. he is so amazing and writes such beautiful material. Thank you so much for posting this very intimate and unique clip of Bill.
Mind blown.

What era of Frisell is this? Is there a representative album? Is this piece on a disc?
This is quite repetitive like the music of Philip Glass only much more interesting.
