  • i have a better quality video.. just an FYI :)

  • Pacifica is a special place that should get more love not just by surfers. However, so many average (you and me) people drown there all the time, just from having their feet knocked out from under them while they stand hip deep in the water as the pulling begins, then bye bye! . There is only one other place I have felt tide that. I have only seen 1 surfer there. I want pacifica to stay unknown or else the park & rec will close off all those dangerous cliff trails that I like to run on

  • It was 20' that day, knocked the bathroom off the pier. They still haven't replaced it.

  • There it is @ 0:36 This video is of the 12/21/05 swell. El Porto is always bigger and was 15-20 foot faces there. With a high tide surfers should be able to bail down below and make it out there next time.

  • wow this is really big for venice.. i have been on that pier.. and on regular day.. it would NEVER reach the pier

  • sorry pismo boy...i live there and it isnt that bi consistently and there are tons of closeouts

  • i seen venice this big! the biggest i seen in real life

  • big for cali but i live in hawaii and these waves are mini compared to there. Just saying. These waves would be perfect to surf back home and no way these are 25 more like 12-15 foot faves 6-8 hawaiian style and thats pushing it

  • if its reaching the pier they have to be a good 20 ft

  • Don't kid yourself man.... El porto this same day was breaking over a quarter while out and guys were getting towed into solid 12-15 foot backs. I was there watching and the swell I saw in Hawaii at the Bay wasn't much bigger than this swell. And as far as Cali goes, Mavs in Nor Cal gets 25 feet from the back every winter

  • damn, thats venice?!

  • that's exactly what I was thinking!

I have never seen Venice this big.

  • i live there!

  • Pismo pier is like that or better 3/4 of the time in winter.

  • Nevermind, the pier looks the same.

  • Hey that's Pacifica.

  • LETS GO JETTY JUMPEN

  • wat......5-6?

  • are you crazy!?

  • no!....5-6ft back

  • hawaiian scale

  • fuck hawaiian scale. its ridiculous. who the fuck cares about the back of the wave?

  • lol that is soo true hahaha

  • i agree, fuck hawaiian scale thats the dumbest shit i ever heard of

  • Respect the POWER of the ocean! Great video; I love getting shots of waves, too.

  • i would so go in that that is small...if this is wintertime yeah i would go out...

  • Kool u missed the bigger waves breaking far out

  • I remember that day, it knocked the bathrooms of the end of the pier that day. Malibu was all time and so was Leo Carillo, I surfed both that day. Middle of December, which never happens for those spots unless there is a huge North swell with a little west in it. Siiiick!!!

  • When Leo is big, how far does out does it break? I'm guessing that you don't sit by those rocks waiting for the wave to wrap like it does on small days.

  • Venice Beach, California...Not Mavericks

  • where is that...mavericks

  • Venice pier pounding

  • That is so scarey.

  • You mean end of the pier?

  • dude theres another video of big wednsday at the chart house in RB/HB.

those videos are tight. it shows ppl surfing the waves.

you cant really tell how big waves are until u see somone surfing it.

  • (\__/)

    (='.'=)

    (")_(")

  • can i surf there ?

or there are too many rocks ?

  • Absolutely no rocks, just sand... people surf there all the time, but not that day, the waves were too high.

  • umm how r these waves 25 feet ???

  • was this a t pacifica because it looks like it

  • it is from Marina Del Rey.

  • damn that shit was mean. how big are the waves on a normal day out there?

  • sometimes none, sometimes a couple of feet, 5-6 feet is usually large.

  • About 7,5 metres.

  • How many metres? is 25 feet.

  • big waves ther tiny 25 feet more like 2

  • The winter storms bring higher swells, I do not know what caused this one, but the pier was damaged and closed for a while after that.

  • whats causing them

  • The waves are about 25 feet tall, so the pier must be about the same size.

  • how much tall is the pier?
