@woodbine901 I'm not trying to defend North Korea or anything, but South or North Korea didn't exist before WWII, after the war the communist were going to gain control over the peninsula so US dispatched their army to prevent that from happening and thus the division was created. Therefore, in some way yes US caused the division of the peninsula, probably in this case for good, but still the statement doesn't seem incorrect in this sense to me.
The US and Russia are both responsible for the division. It was a tragic consequence of history. Both superpowers had an interest in keeping it divided.
Nuclear weapons are overrated, all they can do is destroy a city and doing that does not win a war, WE know that! The "war" is necessary to justify the existance of the Kim Jong Il Dynasty. They also do not want reunification. They probably want the US to leave so they can invade withouth pulling the US into this and creating an international conflict. Withouth the US it would be seen as a civil war, and in that case other countries cannot interfere witouth a UN resolution.

The nukes are a political tool, but if the north was invaded, and they were about to lose they would use them. Also they could use them and detonate them above cities using the EMP. They have the support of Russia and China and have ties to SCO. If they would start a war they would be backed up so other countries won't be blamed.
@UnitedEuropa 9 million soldiers..98% of them not combat worthy. I know the whole situation over there, I lived there and I worked on the DMZ. The best of the NKPA units (maybe 10,000 of them) were still not worthy to fight either the South nor the US, they have no combat experience what so ever, and very poor leadership and the equipment they have is not enough to stop anything. They would not survive 2 days of our airpower. Our AH-64s and F-18s would destroy every tank they have in 24hrs.
@UnitedEuropa even ICBMs (and the DPRK doesnt have them) are no real threat to the US in small numbers (1-20 of them) because we have great missle defence, we could intercept all or most of them before reaching thier targets in the US or South Korea. We are working on even better interception that can stop 105mm-155mm indirect fire also. When that happens the DPRK will lose alot of offensive power against cities in the South. DPRK is poor, its only a matter of time.

@woodbine901 I'm not trying to defend North Korea or anything, but South or North Korea didn't exist before WWII, after the war the communist were going to gain control over the peninsula so US dispatched their army to prevent that from happening and thus the division was created. Therefore, in some way yes US caused the division of the peninsula, probably in this case for good, but still the statement doesn't seem incorrect in this sense to me.

Nuclear weapons are overrated, all they can do is destroy a city and doing that does not win a war, WE know that! We destroyed 63 Japanese cities with conventional bombing and that still didnt bring a win for us agianst Japan. Japan was defeated becuase they lost thier Navy. If the DPRK used just one nuclear weapon, that would be the total end of them and they know that, they will never use one! As for the starvation thing, they did die from chicken. Collectivism always fails. So does ideas like International Socialism (ie. Globalism)

The "war" is necessary to justify the existance of the Kim Jong Il Dynasty. They also do not want reunification. If the US leaves and reunification happens that would be the end of the Dynasty, everytime we try to leave Kim acts up and forces us to stay, its all a game to keep him in power. Its all FAKE!

They probably want the US to leave so they can invade withouth pulling the US into this and creating an international conflict. Withouth the US it would be seen as a civil war, and in that case other countries cannot interfere witouth a UN resolution.

@UnitedEuropa you need to watch the videos of Defectors from the North Korean Military, the only thing hard about their training is the starvation...and no way does the DPRK have the knowledge to make an EMP.. thats not normal nuclear weapons tech, EMP is far beyond them..same with Neutronic weapons, they can barely make old-fashion gun-type bombs. I doubt they could even make a spherical-implosion type bomb. DPRK is good at mind-control and propaganda, thats it.

@Gloomshadow1 Yes there are defectors, but still they are the best treated group in North Korea. The DPRK already has nukes. Their nuclear tests confirm that. They themselfs have already said it too. Their army is being supplied by the Russians and the Chinede. They also have close ties to the military regime of Myanmar. Their technology may not be the most modern, but it still is very effective.

@UnitedEuropa No, Im talking about North Korean Military defectors..they all say that most of the army is starving..one time they issued the whole army a chicken breast for Kim Ill Sungs birthday and when they ate it, it caused several hundred of them army wide to die from systemic shock becasue they had not had a decent quanity of meant to eat in several years. The NKPA is an army that mostly exists on paper, in reality they have no fuel or food, ammo..its just mostly for show.

@Gloomshadow1 It's not just show you should google their army. The reason the north spends 75% of its GDP on the military is because they want to defend themself. Their propaganda keeps telling them that they will destroy the US. People don't die just because they haven't had meat in a long time. The UN reported that every familiy gets twice a year meat in their food rations on holidays. Since most of the people are in the military. They all should get meat at least every year.

The DPRK cannot fight longer than 60 days due to supplies and they dont care because they wold only last about 7 days against the combined forces of the ROK and the US. @Gloomshadow1 The North is a real threat. That is why they get so much attention. They have over 9 million soldiers. They are the 3rd largest army in the world. The nukes are a political tool, but if the north was invaded, and they were about to lose they would use them. Also they could use them and detonate them above cities using the EMP. They have the support of Russia and China and have ties to SCO. If they would start a war they would be backed up so other countries won't be blamed.

@UnitedEuropa 9 million soldiers..98% of them not combat worthy. I know the whole situation over there, I lived there and I worked on the DMZ. The best of the NKPA units (maybe 10,000 of them) were still not worthy to fight either the South nor the US, they have no combat experience what so ever, and very poor leadership and the equipment they have is not enough to stop anything. They would not survive 2 days of our airpower. Our AH-64s and F-18s would destroy every tank they have in 24hrs.

@UnitedEuropa even ICBMs (and the DPRK doesnt have them) are no real threat to the US in small numbers (1-20 of them) because we have great missle defence, we could intercept all or most of them before reaching thier targets in the US or South Korea. We are working on even better interception that can stop 105mm-155mm indirect fire also. When that happens the DPRK will lose alot of offensive power against cities in the South. DPRK is poor, its only a matter of time.

@Gloomshadow1 The north is using their nukes as a detterent and a political tool, but they will use them if needed. The DPRK is not going to start a war with the US immeadiatly. The north wants to conquer the south and then move on to Japan. Because Japan used to rule Korea. They want to be a member of the SCO. An economical and political organization which also functions as a militray alliance. The north probably wants to use the SCO to destory the US.

They were willing to die, every man woman and child for the Emperor and we almost made that happen. 63 cities coverted to fame and dust..the civilians along with them. I think it was 11 million that were killed. Hatred did not help them against our sheer size and the power of unrestrained bombing.
