Weird, the sound and picture doesn't really add up, and I don't think it's a sync issue. It sounds like the original LP recording is superimposed over this video - the audio is as far as I can tell identical.
Still it's nice to see the composer and original performers play this piece :)
just to let you all know, Bolling wrote this for Jean-Pierre Rampal [the flutist]. The entire Bolling Suite for Flute is amazing, but if you wanna see truly superior music just search Rampal into a musical recording database sometime!
Amo esta música y todas las piezas de Bolling...Admiro su talento y el de los virtuosos y apasionados músicos que lo han acompañado en sus diferentes álbumes...
does anybody have notes of this piece for flute..i would like to have them and i don't now enybody who have this notes...so...if somebody have this..can you pls answer me.. :S
I'm playing this for my recital on piano, and just to look at Claude Bolling's fingers in this video, it's absolutely amazing how nimble he is. Getting up to tempo is a challenge in and of itself, but he manages to get the 4-1-4-3-2-1 fingering in on the fourths coming down with such awe-inspiring grace, there is no way M. Bolling is less than the top of world class piano talent.
This song has such great memories for me. I played this song at a Solo and Ensemble cometition in school. I have listened to the whole album over and over and over again and got to see Rampal play ithe entire Suite at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta years ago. What a fantastic song and collection.
I did too. I heard it in high school and I cannot tell you how many times I have listened to it, Hundreds. We had Sentimentale played at my sister's wedding, we loved it so much.
i love how Rampal plays, all you see are his fingers move and all you hear is that beautiful sound. There's hardly any movement with his embouchure. I wish i could've gotten a chance to see him live.
Thanks for posting this video. Its fantastic to actually see Claude Bolling and Jean Piere Rampal performing this live and from memory. I learnt the piano part to this piece in 2000 (in London) at the same time a music teacher learnt the flute part (in New Jersey). We had to rehearse "virtually" 3000 miles apart. When I flew over to the US, we had just one play through and then had to perform Baroque and Blue to an audience of 400. Fortunately it came together really well and was great fun.
I also played this at a competition with a hired pianist. It truly is a fun fun song to play. I just love how it flows...... The hardest part for me to play was the very last part!!

He could have it coming out of his butt and it wouldn't make a difference. As long as he's getting that perfect tone out of his flute, who cares? You're criticism/observation seems petty and moot.
I think that my dad was the best flute player of the world but now no

Wonderful. Sounds like Brubeck Quartet with flute instead of alto sax. Nice European blend of classical and jazz.

Thanks for sharing. Is the piano Claude Bolling and the flute Jean Pierre? I've always thought Claude Bolling was the flute. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Jean-Pierre Rampal was the greatest and most famous flutist of the 20th century, paving the way for Galway.

Although it is pretty interesting how much variation there is in experts' form. I love to watch them.
(The same is true of piano players - which is something I know a lot more about than flute)
