@Patriot1776ization I had clocked "reply" by accident and posted a blank message, now here we are with two blank messages and an off-topic discussion lol
Superb! Roy was a beautiful person with a vocal range not typical of most singers. His lilting quality made the love songs he sang even sweeter. R.I.P Roy and Thanks!
Roy Orbison - a true genius, a pioneer, my favorite artist of all time and the greatest balladeer of the Rock Era! Thanks for another great song by the Big O!
I remember when song come out after some weeks it was withdrawn because lyrics might upset blind and going blind people, the lyrics were changed to suit, surely Roy Orbison would not have been happy about
Only No.33 ! Stone the crows . . . the other 32 must have been the greatest songs of the last 10,000 years in this galaxy to push this down to No.33 It's just sheer Roy brilliance.
hey thanks for posting it. Great song. I woke up with it in my head this morning and haven;t thought of this song for many years and so was so happy to find it on youtube
@BrittanyVigil LOL, I have hundreds of videos posted with "0" dislikes (and even some of the ones with 1 or 2 dislikes are typing errors (or so the people who pressed "dislike" tell me). However, that being said, there is always going to be somebody that doesn't like a song for whatever reason.
@Nocaro Add to that the self hating worthless weasels who will "dislike" out of spite as soon as someone points out the 0 dislikes. Obviously they don't count either, here or in real life.
Usual amazing performance from Orbison. Linda Ronstadt did an amazing cover, but Roy's version is the original. Looking at Orbison's career it is surprising he didn't take off when at Sun where Elvis then Johnny Cash dominated the airwaves. Cash & Orbison were of course great friends and as is well known lived next door to each other at Hendersonville near Nashville. As has been noted - zero 'dislikes' . . . .
All I'm gonna say is "I Duddits!" I appreciate all 20's-90's music, well a greater majority. Current music is okay.... Nothing compared to then. Thumbs up for classical music and the fantastic Steven King film "Dreamcatcher"
As a young boy, the big 'O', was one of the many great singers in the 60's, that inspired me to sing. The rest, as they they say ladies and gentlemen, is history! Even today in my 50's, I sing and play my guitar(s) every-single-day! God bless you Roy! x
@Duncan1763 People "hear" a lot of things in the background singing of that song including Creole "I love you", but at that time Joe Melson and Roy experimented with the doo-wop backup singers arranged by Anita Kerr. It gave him a sound so unique, it took years to really appreciate..
Roy wasn't one of the best. He was THE BEST. Totally in a class by himself. Another league, with him the only one in it. The music back then was the best also. Nothing but crap today for music.
I always thought Roy Orbison was blind...always wearing those dark glasses like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles...........aaaahhhmmmm maybe he is blind...cause I never see him without it.
I always thought Roy Orbison was blind...always wearing those dark glasses like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles...........aaaahhhmmmm maybe he is blind...cause I never see him without it.
@vxenon67 -- Actually, he isn't blind. According to "Wikipedia": "After leaving his thick eyeglasses on an airplane in 1962 or 1963, Orbison was forced to wear his Ray-Ban Wayfarer prescription sunglasses on stage and found that he preferred them". He was my all-time favorite. It matters not what all others say. He was in the top ten of all R&R singers and songwriters as far as I'm concerned.
DID YOU KNOW THAT THE CORRECT NAME OF BOTH THE RIVER AND LAKE CORRIB IN COUNTY GOLLIV, SOUTHERN IRELAND, IS ACTUALLY "ORBISSIE" OR "ORBISON", DEPENDING ON YOUR IRISH-LINGO DIALECT? I LOVE TO JOKE THAT THE LATE ROY HAD THOSE TWO BEAUTIFUL PLACES WERE PREQUELS IN HIS MEMORY! June 2, 2011.
