  • hahahah i think talking to the horse like that is abuse lol

  • what if you ask nicely but the horse still doesn't listen do you get a little tougher eachtime?

  • @afleetalgebra The answer is in the question (and probably a hundred of his videos)

  • @tcfuturevet okay thanks

  • i so wish i could have a mini rick i could store in my pocket and use to educate the idiots i have to deal with LOL have been re-watching tanner during the 'this is 'love' ' bit. quite possibly the best WTF expression ever. poor guy cant figure out whats happened to make his person go loony

  • @FutureJouster also! bad rick! you horse abuser you! LMFAO

thanks again for the dose of sanity! :D

  • So, how do you know if a horse does love you? Because I honestly think that Tanner loves you a awful lot :) you treat horses so well.

  • @AudieRose1998 if you're sittin' on a stump cryin' your eyes out and your two geldings come over and lick your writsts, then i think they love you.

  • GORE IS BOSS!!! Love your vids.

  • Okay Rick I ave a very important question. (Great video by the way.) So my horse she is always almost fine outside when i'm riding she keeps a nice headset, she pays attention to me, and is great for showmanship and all that too... But when I take her into the indoor arena. She just flips out. I walk her around until she is fine. But then I get on her and she won't move and she will rear. She has flipped on me once. What can I do desensitize her?

    Thanks

    -Hailey

  • @22LowLow EASY, train the horse. This guy says it all in this video. You are riding an untrained horse, simple as that. Competing or being able to get on the horse does not mean that the horse is trained.Nor you a proficient rider, Proper training for a horse is 5 to 45 min a day 6 days a week for 5 to 8 years. Not an hour a day for 30-60-90 days. Can you learn and be proficient in a Bachelors degree or foreign language in 90 days? So why should the horse understand what you ask in the same?

  • Continued:

What they're doing is abuse in my opinion. I'm satisfied that poor horse stands there with no idea why he's tied up all alone with no food or water. Thank you for showing correct right then and move on. It's working, and I don't have to chase my horse, he just moseys right on in to me, and almost acts like he's sort of glad to see me. :)

  • Had someone give me some "advice". They said when my horse acts up to take him out all by himself and tie him up where he can't move his head and leave him there all day, all night and up into the next day with no food or water. They said when I come back he will be really humble and act like a different horse. Then they told me their horse runs from them and is really hard to catch. You think??

They got to me too late. I have done seen the light!! :)

    (Continued)

  • put a blanket on him when he is 100 degrees? what? Why would you want to do that?

  • In my sad experience with the world of vets is they are pharmaceutically programmed robots and have little hands on knowledge of animals and what they really need. In NZ they have 5yrs of pharmaceutical programming and are NOT taught with hands on operations. When they open there own clinics they have NO experience. Like doctors, they are taught what drug to give what symptom. Theres no intelligence/usefulness in anything they offer. Lucky we holistic vets now who are not so money orientated!

  • @EquineGall : lol, Oh nooooo please don't unsub, that really hurts? Idiot! Get the hell off my channel it is for people wanting to learn and help their horse, not spoiled little selfish knowitalls that are too busy running their mouth to listen.

And people wonder why there is so much petty drama at barns, here is your answer.

  • @EquineGall so immature and childish!

  • Good videos.Very true about "loving" abuse.Horses need to be horses.Ha ha ...when you use that weird mocking voice I start to think that maybe you forgot some medication ..lolol..Kidding of course.!

  • "Mr. T Horsemanship" :)

  • Excellent points there Rick. Awesome stuff!

  • Mr. T is so stinkin' awesome. Just such a good example of pure horse.

You talk about the whole "3 strikes" thing, and I've read about it. I always think of baseball and after several owners, he finally hit a grand-slam home run when you became his Dad. :)

  • Abuse can also include people letting their horse suffer vs putting them down when needed, or calling a vet in a timely manner.

  • @Thejanicemccarty : agreed or it can be from people paying vets to put them down when they get tired of taking care of them so it is easier to have them put down.

  • @horseawareness You don't know much about vets if you think they will put a healthy horse down just because thats what the owner wants

  • @EquineGall : Are you kidding me talking this crap. I have watched far too many people go vet shopping and after 3 or 4 Vets say NO, they find one that will say yes and put a perfectly good horse down. If you live in LaLa land and think this does not happen, you are not smart enough to accept reality or learn, not sure why you are watching my videos. You obviously don't get it and have not learned much. Maybe on TV or Vet school they preach code of ethics, in life it is about money for many.

  • @horseawareness How would you know if I wasn't smart enough? You don't even know me

  • @EquineGall : You made my Point! I don't know you and YOU don't know what every Vet would do or not do. Two ears one mouth, you should try and use them in those proportions. (IE: Listen twice as much as you talk)

  • @horseawareness I have a friend who went through vet school...all 10 years of it. And you know what she told me? She did one dissection and that was of the horses hoof to name all of the parts of the bones and veins. She told me "When I got out of college I had NO IDEA what to do when someone came to me for lameness, founder, ect. So when a owner came up to me and asked for me to put the horse down, my oath to respect the owners request kept me from saying no, many other vets have said the same.

  • @EquineGall Are you kidding me? Yes they will if the money's there. They may not want too, but they will for customer satisfaction. Is it bull, yes, but it happens.I've seen it done multiple times

  • @countrygirl21491 i refused a good paying job that required me to 'euthenize' animals.

  • @chrisvpena More power too you, Didn't say that all do it-but its out there along with some other unsightly things in the industry.

  • 05.00 You should consider acting as a career, so realistic!

  • your vids help a lot thanks for what you do rick.

we just got a 16 year old paint that has not been rode for a year .and she has been moved 3 times in a year we are taking it slow to train again thanks rick it all make sence if people would just listen and look at the animal
