@TheJdthomson What on earth has Elvis to do with this? Ivan was sublime with his thing and Elvis was sublime doing his thing. And others were sublime doing other things, too. Why all this comparing all the time????
tout a fait d'accord car Ivan Rebroff avait une sacrée voix auquel pour ce qui l'on et écoute ne peuvent l'oublier tu est mnt une étoile parmi tant d'autre qui étincelle l'univers merci
God!!, He is so classical Russian. i could'n believe he was born in Germany. His accent doesn't spoil the song, it even sounds more charming. Bravo Ivan. I'll be Russian forever and it doesn't matter I live in San Francisco so long time already.
@torazfisch I didn't know that. I always thought that he was russian of jewish hertage. But it doesn't really matter. What matters is that he was such a great singer. I just LOVE to listen to whatever he sings.
He's superb but his pronunciation of Russian always bothers me a bit because some things he says too literally. What I mean is he pronounces things giving some letter too much distinction when in reality a native speaker wouldn't do so. It sounds a little synthetic but its nothing serious.
........What a treasure we've all lost.Elvis Presley. You can go sit down ,and listen to Rebroff......

No rustling’s heard in the garden deep,
Till the dawn everything’s so quiet,
If you only knew how dear to me,
All these Moscow Suburban Nights.

Waters flowing or not flowing,
Made of lunar silver, the river runs,
There is sound of song, or there is no sound,
In the quiet nights all are at once.
Why, o darling mine, shy and quick is your glance?
Bowing low your head, you look aside?
So hard for me to conceal at once,
Or to utter everything in my heart.
alikisssa 1 year ago
But the dawn now is getting close by,
And, my darling, please, be so kind,
Ever not forget all these summer nights,
These suburban Moscow Nights.
No rustling’s heard in the garden deep,
Till the morning everything’s so quiet,
If you only knew how dear to me,
All these Moscow suburban Nights.

Half Russian (Jewish), half german. But no matter what, a great voice.

Mr Rebroff's voice range - 4 and a half octaves. Stunning.
