  • Hey pete do you sand the epoxy primer before you laid the basecoat on?

  • @mixtecapitbullkennel NO-don't sand the epoxy primer before paint, let dry and then go straight to basecoat. Make sure the epoxy lays down with minimul orange peel.. Pete

  • Well Pete,

All I can say is I really like watching your videos for two reasons. Of course for the information that you pass along which others hang on to like it may be some sort of life saving secrets... But the other reason is of your attitude that says you can do it.. you can get it done. Honestly I didn't really know what to do for the flex agent with my Mustang bumpers and now I do. thanks so much and please keep the videos coming.

    Chad

  • GREAT VIDEO PETE! Solid advice about painting and life in general. I did my first bumper cover at home last summer using your advice and it came out great!

  • Pete, enjoy your how-to videos -- I've watched them all and all are very good. Thanks again!

  • Would 91% or 99$ isopropyl alcohol be better to use than the 70%?...

  • quick note

the rag that had the alchol on it is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE

    and burns CLEAR.

Rags can catch fire thru reaction. No heat needed.

Be safe dont burn down your house.

  • Hey Pete thanks for the info, I got a little escort that will come in handy on, Say by the way how did the "Tough Love Garage" Premiere go? I would loved to have actually watched it but I dont have the channel and can't seem to find the full episode on the web..

  • Kool vid Pete. Hey do those steps work on hard hats as well? I've always had trouble outta that type of plastic.

    Peace man,

    Sprocket

  • That bumper looked fixable.

Or is that to much work and hazzle?

  • I used that "Adhesion Promoter" on my bumper and had nothin but misery.Don't try sprayin S*m flexible primer on it. Whole thing cracked like a river bed. Im still sandin it

  • DUDE do me a favor do a video on all the friggin tools that I need to go buy to so I can work on my future car. There is so many things I need. Where do I buy them what do I buy. Come on My Friend Pete help a BROTHER out... Man I am sinking here...help a BROTHER out.

  • Love your videos Pete. You should be protesting SOPA today though. It'll shut you down for the same reason that YouTube won't partner with you. All the awesome music you use...will guarantee all of your videos disappear. Sad. I don't want to see that.

  • Good stuff to know. I'll be combining this with the Jag bumper repair you showed us, to repair my van's rear bumper (hit and run parking lot damage), my son's front and rear bumpers(previous owners damage and dad's inadequate repair knowledge), and my mom's front and rear bumpers (self done damage).

    Thanks Pete

  • Pete your friend Mr.blueroads needs his caddy painted PINK!! Just like my HAPPY HOOKER!! LOL LOL

Of course professional, not rattle can like mine!! LOL LOL

  • Good stuff Pete, thanks

  • bumper cover looks clean! wish my bumper cover paint job came out that clean!!!

  • Good video series, I enjoy these... Seems like alot of plastic bumper covers, even from the factory have more of an orange peel look than the rest of the car, also look a little cloudy. Have you noticed that?

  • Thanks Pete!

  • Pete, man I had no idea this channel was around so I subscribed asap. But I'm glad you're nailing it with the importance of adhesion promoters and keeping the plastic clean. I went through H. E. L. L. back In 03 when I was 17 I wanted to paint the interior of my 88 Chevy truck with automotive paint and clear. Well lets just say it never got finished until 05 when I had befriended a local paint shop and I absorbed every word they laid upon my ears.

But yeah this is very important for plastics!

  • Grey Scotch is 600 give or take

  • Nice pete! anyway possible going forward to show each step such as you shooting the promotor and then the paint etc, Do you and did you color sand it afterwards or just clear coat it and call it a day. Also, what grit is gray scotch bright pad roughly? Not complaining mind you, just asking my friend pete :) Keep those videos coming, its a family affair in my house :)

  • my friend Pete! you are one bad dude I really look forward for your vids everyday. Being disable for a period, I wake up hoping theres more of my friend Pete vids on YOUtube. thanks bro thumbs up to you
