@edelahaye I also play, but not in a band. I started with the guitar in France, when I was 18, and some years ago took up the bouzouki and the tenor banjo. My problem is that I don't play enough, and I don't learn well in sessions: too many people, and most with a background in Irisn music which I hardly have. I plan to get a good banjo, a Deering as a friend suggested, and focus on that and the bouzouki. I live in Cambridge UK. And you?
Yet Another Internet Addict ...
can anyone suggest the best place in NI to purchase a banjo?? any help much appreciated! Looking for one the same as Luke Kelly was famous for playing...
EUROPOL REPORT: IMMIGRATION A MAJOR THREAT TO EUROPEANS
A European Police Office report has revealed that at least 900,000 illegal immigrants from 3rd World enter the EU every year & 350,000 legal visitors overstay their visas -and that Europe faces major criminal threats from this invasion force.
This massive influx has seen “European citizens and businesses exposed to systematic violence and corruption at the hands of organised crime groups, terrorist groups, and, street gangs"
Maith thú a chailin. Bhi sin go hAlainn. I see Kevin got a mention and a fine banjo player, he is too. I heard him play many's the time in Doolin. The first time I heard him, he was arguing with John King as to how a certain tune started. I finally shouted "Just play the bloody thing" and they did. It was magic.
hi im playin banjo with 18 yrs now and think this girl has the nicest style of playing i have heard i cant stop listenin to her please has anybody got anymore of her
I think I met Emer's Mother Geraldine and Sister Tara this past weekend. What a talented family! We had two great nights listening to Tara play and talking with her family. 'Wonderful people'!
Very nice job Emer! Lovely. Can someone name these tunes? Also a technical question -- are you lightly resting the heel/palm of your right hand on the bridge for stabilization?
Love the second part (Jig). Nvr heard anything like it.
