I guess he was referring to the Betty Ross from the Ultimate universe. I didn't read the comics, but according to the all-knowing wikipedia, in Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk, she takes a Hulk Serum created by Jennifer Walters and turns into that universe's She-Hulk.

That's Ultimate Universe... which apparently has vexed the powers that be sufficiently to warrant a relaunch.
Ultimate =/= Mainstream continuity.
Mainstream Betty is dead. Ultimate Betty has yet to die.
