And just image, if producer De Laurentiis got his way, the film would have been scored with contemporary pop-rock music.  No how difficult would it be to watch now, with 80's music blaring in the background? Thank God Milius won the argument to get his bud Basil to score the film. This is my all-time favorite movie score. You can actually hear the story told through music.
