One of the most useful songs ever! I've lost count of how many times, after a long day, I express myself with this song.
It kind of makes me laugh, though, when Smitty is reading the ad about the vegetable plate. If each plate is $1.90, it would be a total of $3.80 for the two. Instead it's $3.58, so they're only saving $.22, or $.11 each.
My sister did this for her highschool. She's the brunette's character. I dunno what her name is. But she is definitely better than this girl. My sister has the voice of an opera singer.
All I can say is that personally, I'm stoked that Daniel got the part. He's a refreshingly brilliant actor with a big career ahead of him. This is just the beginning, baby!
Good GOD. Soooo great! Good luck Daniel, you're gonna need it. Equus was sort of a flop on Broadway. No one went, even though it was on half-price. Not even the full-front nudity was a draw. I would never have casted him. What about Stark Sands from American Idiot and Journey's End. The Broderick revival wasn't very good and got panned by the critics, and Matthew was good in it. I am predicting utter disaster coming up. Of all people, they chose Radcliffe. Someone with ZERO charm and charisma.
I love this (: I'm going to see the new Broadway version in April. I honestly think Dan Radcliffe was perfect for this part. I can actually picture him playing this part.
You may have been listening to the soundtrack of the original Broadway stage version, which Morse also starred in. The movie wasn't made till 6 years later.
I saw this movie for the very first time in 1985-86. My relatives & I visited my grandfather at his apartment one saturday. This movie popped up on tv and we sat around to watch it. When there was still a half hour left to go in the movie, it came time to go out to eat. I wanted to stay and watch the rest of the movie, but I had to go out with the rest of them. So I missed how it ended. 12 years later I buy a used VHS copy of this movie on eBay & FINALLY got to see the movie in its entirety.
I love this show. I think it's neat that the woman Rosemary does NOT want a career but wants to be a wife and mother and live in a nice house in the suburbs of New Rochelle. "Happy To Keep His Dinner Warm". Never was a Broadway show song so politically incorrect today, but that's why I LOVE it! :)
@daughterrevolution yes, but then it was a show full of irony..if you don't get that and take it literally the humor and irony of the entire satire escapes you completely I'm affraid...it didn't get the pulitzer prize for just being another happy go lucky show...
This was the first film Dad took Mum to when they started dating - he didn't know it was a muscial, but Mum fell for him because he loved it! We had it taped off the telly when I was a child, and Mum & I will still sing this song to eachother if the words come up in conversation. Thanks! I have the album, just not the DVD.
My Dad took me and my brother to see the traveling Broadway version of this play in Asheville,N.C...we got to see Robert Morse do his thing in all his glory and it has STUCK with us through the years !! Thanks for posting it...we want more !!!
Call now and you'll get many more of these limited time offered clips for just 19.95!!! Today!!! Get them before they go "back in the vault for the next five years"!hahaahahhaahah....nah I do them for free. Just felt like that was a "sales pitch of 19.95 and give us your whole credit card/bank account number" type situation...I get in these random modes quite often...lololol
It should be up by this weekend so keep your eyes peeled for it on my site!
I own the film! If ya'll have any requests on which song you like best from it, I'll see if I can upload it this weekend. I just posted a clip from "The Happiest Millionaire" with Tommy Steele singing and dancing at his best.
I'll see what I can do. If you guys want, I'll just post them in order of each song's appearance throughout the film. I actually haven't posted the video yet so be patient. My mom came in later than I expected but she's home to stay aftr being at the hospital with my granddad for most of January.
And for whom are you trying out for? I bet you'll do fantastic no matter what part you get! I have great faith in you...even if I don't know you...ahhahahah
Great song and musical but good lord I really don't like this film.

If you take all the music, thoughts and and narration from Smitty, it's such an awkward elevator ride.

This movie works much better as a play. It essentially is play on film, very little but static shots of one area after another.
